Official Synopsis For ‘Total Recall’ – Starring Colin Farrell, Jessica Biel, Kate Beckinsale & Bryan Cranston
Jan 16th
Sony Pictures has made available this first official synopsis for Len Wiseman’s upcoming action thriller ‘Total Recall.’ Starring Colin Farrell, Jessica Biel, Bill Nighy, Kate Beckinsale, Bryan Cranston, and Ethan Hawke, the film is based on the Philip K. Dick story, “We Can Remember It for You Wholesale.” The original ‘Total Recall’ followed a man (Arnold Schwarzenegger) haunted by a recurring dream of journeying to Mars who buys a literal dream vacation from a company called Rekall Inc., which sells implanted memories. The man comes to believe he is a secret agent and ends up on a Martian colony, where he fights to overthrow a despotic ruler controlling the production of air. The new story ditches the Martian storyline and instead involves nation states Euromerica and New Shanghai, with Douglas Quaid (Colin Farrell) a factory worker in the latter who begins to believe he is a spy, although he doesn’t know for which side. Vilos Cohaagen (Bryan Cranston) is the leader of Euromerica who, under the cover of protecting his people, is secretly readying an invasion of New Shanghai. Jessica Biel plays Melina, while Kate Beckinsale plays Lori. ‘Total Recall’ is scheduled for release August 3rd. Check out the new synopsis below:
“Total Recall is an action thriller about reality and memory, inspired anew by the famous short story “We Can Remember It For You Wholesale” by Philip K. Dick. Welcome to Rekall, the company that can turn your dreams into real memories. For a factory worker named Douglas Quaid (Colin Farrell), even though he’s got a beautiful wife (Kate Beckinsale) who he loves, the mind-trip sounds like the perfect vacation from his frustrating life – real memories of life as a super-spy might be just what he needs. But when the procedure goes horribly wrong, Quaid becomes a hunted man. Finding himself on the run from the police – controlled by Chancellor Cohaagen (Bryan Cranston), the leader of the free world – Quaid teams up with a rebel fighter (Jessica Biel) to find the head of the underground resistance (Bill Nighy) and stop Cohaagen. The line between fantasy and reality gets blurred and the fate of his world hangs in the balance as Quaid discovers his true identity, his true love, and his true fate.”

Tom Hooper’s ‘Les Miserables’ Set For Release December 2012 – Starring Hugh Jackman & Russell Crowe
Sep 9th
If you were wondering what director Tom Hooper would follow up his multiple Academy Award winning drama ‘The King’s Speech’ with, look no further as Deadline have revealed that a December 7th, 2012 release date has been set for Hooper’s live-action adaptation of Victor Hugo’s 1862 novel and the stage musical ‘Les Miserables.’ Additionally Deadline bring word that Russell Crowe will be starring as the misguided Javert opposite Hugh Jackman’s Jean Valjean – Jackson had been linked to the project for some time.
This seemed to be in the cards when 20th Century Fox pushed back ‘Wolverine 2′ until at least the spring. The delay gives Jackman a chance to make ‘Les Miserables,’ a film that will likely feature in the 2013 Oscar race, and then reprise the role he originated in X-Men. December 2012 is already stacked with a number of eagerly anticipated films in Ang Lee’s ‘Life Of Pi,’ Quentin Tarantino‘s ‘Django Unchained, ‘Lone Ranger’ and Peter Jackson’s ‘The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.’ UPDATE - THR are reporting that Helena Bonham Carter is in talks to star in the film as Thenardier’s wife.

Based on the life of J. Edgar Hoover, the man often credited with making the FBI what it is today: an efficient, crime-fighting organization shrouded in secrecy. Hoover founded the organization in 1935 and remained director until his death in 1972.
As America’s top cop for five decades, J. Edgar Hoover oversaw the creation of the FBI, helped popularize fingerprints and other forensic evidence, and wielded nearly unchecked authority to manipulate evidence and investigate supposed enemies of the state such as Robert F. Kennedy and Martin Luther King Jr. Now director Clint Eastwood is turning the tables, prying into Hoover’s life in a big-screen biopic that would doubtless make the notorious G-man squirm.

The movie traces Hoover’s life from his childhood in Washington, D.C., through his ascent to power in the 1920s, his 50-year reign over the FBI, and his death in 1972 — with Leonardo DiCaprio donning prosthetic makeup to portray the man well into his bulldog-like elderly years. ”To me, it’s really a story of how absolute power corrupts absolutely,” says the star. ”He was always an outsider.”
