First Image Of Colin Farrell In Len Wiseman’s ‘Total Recall’
Jul 15th
TheFilmStage have scanned this debut image of Colin Farrell in Len Wiseman’s ‘Total Recall’ courtesy of the new issue of Entertainment Weekly. The ‘contemporized adaptation’ of the 1990 Arnold Schwarzenegger genre classic, is based on the Philip K. Dick story, “We Can Remember It for You Wholesale.” Farrell is also joined in the film by Bill Nighy, Kate Beckinsale, Jessica Biel, Bryan Cranston, who’s playing the lead villain, and Ethan Hawke who’s on board for a cameo role.
The original movie, followed a man (Schwarzenegger) haunted by a recurring dream of journeying to Mars who buys a literal dream vacation from a company called Rekall Inc., which sells implanted memories. The man comes to believe he is a secret agent and ends up on a Martian colony, where he fights to overthrow a despotic ruler controlling the production of air. The new story ditches the Martian storyline and instead involves nation states Euromerica and New Shanghai, with Douglas Quaid (Farrell) a factory worker in the latter who begins to believe he is a spy, although he doesn’t know for which side. ‘Total Recall’ is scheduled to hit cinemas August 3rd, 2012. I’ve got high hopes for this, fingers crossed it doesn’t disappoint!
Official Synopsis Released For Guy Ritchie’s ‘Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows’
Jul 12th
The good folks over at Warner Bros have today liberated the full synopsis for Guy Ritchie’s upcoming sequel ‘Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows,’ giving us a better idea of what we can expect from the film. All we knew up until today was that the film would follow the world’s most famous detective, Sherlock Holmes (Downey Jr.), and his longtime trusted associate, Dr. Watson (Law), as they match wits to overcome villainous antics. Along for ride include Noomi Rapace as a gypsy, Eddie Marsan as Inspector Lestrade, Stephen Fry as Sherlock’s older brother Mycroft, and Jared Harris as Sherlock’s arch-nemesis Professor Moriarty. ‘Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows’ is set for release December 16th, 2011. Check out the full synopsis below. Expect a teaser trailer this week.
Robert Downey Jr. reprises his role as the world’s most famous detective, Sherlock Holmes, and Jude Law returns as his formidable colleague, Dr. Watson, in “Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows.”
Sherlock Holmes has always been the smartest man in the room…until now. There is a new criminal mastermind at large—Professor Moriarty (Jared Harris)—and not only is he Holmes’ intellectual equal, but his capacity for evil, coupled with a complete lack of conscience, may actually give him an advantage over the renowned detective.
When the Crown Prince of Austria is found dead, the evidence, as construed by Inspector Lestrade (Eddie Marsan), points to suicide. But Sherlock Holmes deduces that the prince has been the victim of murder—a murder that is only one piece of a larger and much more portentous puzzle, designed by one Professor Moriarty.
New TV Spot For ‘Warrior’ – Starring Tom Hardy, Joel Edgerton & Nick Nolte
Jul 12th
Lionsgate (via Movieweb) have released this new TV spot for Gavin O’Connor’s Mixed Martial Arts drama ‘Warrior.’ The film stars two of the very best young actors around in Tom Hardy (Inception, The Dark Knight Rises) and Joel Edgerton (Animal Kingdom). As an MMA fan and a keen admirer of both Hardy and Edgerton I’m thoroughly stoked for this flick! ‘Warrior’ opens September 9th in the US, and September 23rd in the UK.
Two brothers face the fight of a lifetime – and the wreckage of their broken family – within the brutal, high-stakes world of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighting in Lionsgate’s action/drama, Warrior. An ex-Marine haunted by a tragic past, Tommy Conlon (Hardy) returns to his hometown of Pittsburgh and enlists his father (Nick Nolte), a recovered alcoholic and his former coach, to train him for an MMA tournament awarding the biggest purse in the history of the sport. As Tommy blazes a violent path towards the title prize, his brother, Brendan (Edgerton), a former MMA fighter unable to make ends meet as a public school teacher, returns to the amateur ring to provide for his family. Even though years have passed, recriminations and past betrayals keep Brendan bitterly estranged from both Tommy and his father.
