Scott Cooper’s ‘Out of the Furnace’ Set For October – Starring Christian Bale, Zoe Saldana & Casey Affleck
Apr 13th
Relativity Media has set an October 4th release date for Scott Cooper’s (Crazy Heart) upcoming revenge-drama, ‘Out of the Furnace.’ Christian Bale stars in the film as Russell Baze alongside Casey Affleck as Rodney Baze Jr, Russell’s younger brother. Zoe Saldana plays Bale’s love interest Lena Warren and Sam Shepard will play Red, Russell and Rodney Baze’s uncle. Woody Harrelson plays the brutal crime boss Harlan DeGroat and Forest Whitaker plays Wesley Barnes, the Sheriff of Braddock. Willem Dafoe also stars.
‘Out of the Furnace’ is a drama about fate, circumstance, and redemption. Russell (Bale) and his younger brother Rodney (Affleck) live in the economically depressed Rust Belt, and have always dreamed of escaping and finding better lives. But when a cruel twist of fate lands Russell in prison, his brother is lured into one of the most violent and ruthless crime rings in the Northeast – a mistake that will almost cost him everything. Once released, Russell must choose between his own freedom, or risk it all to seek justice for his brother. The film is written and directed by critically-acclaimed Scott Cooper.
First Looks At Jason Clarke, Keri Russell & Andy Serkis On The Set Of ‘Dawn of the Planet of the Apes’
Apr 11th
Showing Jason Clarke, Keri Russell, Kirk Acevedo and Andy Serkis, The Daily Mail has uncovered this first batch of images from the Vancouver, Canada set of the upcoming ‘Rise of the Planet of the Apes’ sequel, ‘Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.’ While much of the plot is being kept under lock and key, it is reported that ‘Dawn of the Planet of the Apes’ is set 15 years after the events of ‘Rise of the Planet of the Apes.’ One focus is on the group of human scientists who are struggling to survive alone in San Francisco. Another aspect of the story is the struggle of intelligent ape Caesar, played by a returning Serkis, to maintain dominance over his kingdom. Kodi Smit-McPhee, Judy Greer and Gary Oldman also star.
Following the critical and financial success – $453.2 million worldwide gross on a $93 million budget – of ‘Rise of the Planet of the Apes,’ it was pretty much a given that we’d be seeing a sequel sooner rather than later. Rupert Wyatt, who directed the original, reportedly dropped out of the sequel because he didn’t feel comfortable making the May 23, 2014 release date that 20th Century Fox announced in May. Matt Reeves (Cloverfield, Let Me In) is now directing, while Mark Bomback penned the screenplay.
