The Guardian have released the first UK trailer for Stephen Frears Tamara Drewe, the big screen adaptation of Posy Simmonds’ comic strip of the same name. I’ve been looking forward to this for the last few months now, I’m a fan of the cast and Stephen Frears is a great director, not everything he makes is for my personal tastes but Tamara Drewe is definitely up my alley, I love a twisted tale! Look out for this at your local cinema September 10th. Check out the trailer at The Guardian’s website, sorry no embed
Once a shy and unattractive teenager from a small rural idyll, Tamara’s (Gemma Arterton) past catches up with her when she returns to the village and has to face an old flame. With a rock-star boyfriend back in London she gets caught in a love triangle and becomes the focus of gossiping locals. The film co-stars Dominic Cooper, Roger Allam, Luke Evans, Bill Camp and Tamsin Greig.
After reading a bunch of stories online it seems that I must be the only person that wasn’t completely surprised by this story, since Transformers 2 Megan Fox has thrown Director Michael Bay under the bus COUNTLESS times in public. Deadline have reported ‘Paramount won’t be picking up Megan Fox’s option on Transformers 3 — and that it was “ultimately” director Michael Bay’s decision.Right now Bay and writer Ehren Kruger et al are finishing up the script for the threequel and “giving Shia a new love interest makes more sense for the story,” an insider tells me.‘ I’m still not a hundred perfect convinced that this story is completely accurate, Michael Bay like’s to mess with people, for Transformers 2 Revenge of the Fallen he said that Megatron would not be appearing.
Thewrap have also reported that Gemma Arterton is the frontrunner to replace Megan Fox, with supermodels Bar Rafaeli, Miranda Kerr and Brooklyn Decker also in the running. I’m not to sure about that story either because when I interviewed Gemma Arterton a few weeks ago she said ‘I’m having a little break now, but the next thing I do I want it to scare me, I want it to be a challenge. I’ll be playing a stalker though, who’s really fat and ugly YEAAAAAAHH (laughs). The girl I stalk no one wants to play her, because it’s similar to Alice, she gets humiliated, I’m really trying to get these great actresses to play it.’ You never know though, I guess we’ll have to wait and see.
Edit: “Megan Fox will not be starring in ‘Transformers 3,’ ” reps for the actress, 24, told People magazine. “It was her decision not to return. She wishes the franchise the best.” So it’s been confirmed
Below is a new featurette from Prince Of Persia: Sands Of Time, it showcases the lovely Gemma Arteton’s character Tamina. This could possibly be the first good video game based movie, the following film’s were terrible -Mortal Combat, Tomb Raider, Doom, Super Mario Bros and especially Street Fighter, ESPECIALLY Street Fighter!!!! Until watching Street Fighter at the tender age of 8 I never thought you could possibly make a film so bad, my child like innocence was taken from me by that film, it was a complete and utter turd. Fingers crossed this will be good, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time is released in the UK 21st May and also stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Sir Ben Kinglsey, Toby Kebbell and Alfred Molia. Check out my interview with Gemma Arterton here.
I’m still not fully sold on this for some reason, the cast is great, with Jake Gyllenhaal, Gemma Arterton, Toby Kebbell and Ben Kingsley, all actors I look out for. The first featurette features a short interview with Jake Gyllenhaal talking about his character Prince Dastan. The second featurette is a behind the scenes look at the film. This definitely looks like it will be one of the big blockbusters of 2010. Check out the 2 Trailer here
