Seeing as the film was originally under two months away from release and up until now we hadn’t yet seen a trailer, poster, clip, pretty much zilch other than the above image. It can come as little surprise that Paramount Pictures has rescheduled ‘Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters’ from March 2nd of this year to January 11th, 2013. As of now we don’t know why Paramount has decided to push the movie back, however I’m sure we’ll be hearing details regarding the scheduling change sometime over the next few weeks.

The re-imagined fairy tale flick stars Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton as the titular characters. It is said to be a dark action movie that picks up with the fairy tale siblings years after the traumatic childhood incident has turned them into bounty hunters. Tommy Wirkola (Dead Snow) directs while Peter Stormare, Famke Janssen, Peter Stormare, Zoe Bell, and Derek Mears co-star.

In a recent interview Gemma Arterton shed some light on how the film incorporates the original Brothers Grimm tale: ”It continues it. You see a series of flashbacks with their experience of killing that first witch, which is brilliant. I remember being on set for the final few days of that. The candy house, and the witches are really repulsive and quite frightening. The makeup is out of this world. It’s this bone-chilling scene. Very dark. The girl who plays my character is brilliant, with the horrified expression she has.”

Arterton also described the film and characters as: ” very, very dark, and bloodthirsty and there’s a lot of cursing. It’s kind of got a [Quentin] Tarantino feel, really.” Gretel is much more in tune with her spiritual side. Hansel is a typical action hero, cheeky, funny, a womanizer. She’s much more of a thinker, intense, internal and bit more open-minded than he is.”

It’s a bit tongue-in-cheek, really. What would Hansel and Gretel be in 15 years time?”

This morning BAFTA announced the nominations for the 2011 Orange Rising Star Award. The five contenders for this year’s award are *drumroll*:

* Tom Hardy (Inception, Bronson)
* Aaron Johnson (Kick Ass, Chatroom)

Voting takes place both at www.orange.co.uk/bafta, on the mobile portal Orange World and via text. The winner will be announced at the BAFTAs on Sunday 13 February. Previous winners of the award include James McAvoy in 2006, Eva Green in 2007, Shia LaBeouf in 2008, Noel Clarke in 2009 and Kristen Stewart in 2010. This year the award has been renamed the Orange Wednesdays Rising Star Award. Potential rising stars were proposed by BAFTA members and leading film industry insiders to create an initial list of contenders.

Variety report that Gemma Arterton has signed on to star opposite Jeremy Renner in Paramount’s upcoming fairy tale adaptation ‘Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters.’ The film is said to be a dark action movie that picks up with the fairy tale siblings years after the traumatic childhood incident has turned them into bounty hunters.

Arterton beat out the likes of Diane Kruger, Eva Green and Noomi Rapace for the part. Dead Snow director Tommy Wirkola will direct the film. Filming is set to start in Berlin as early as March.

In a recent sit down with Total Film, Gemma Arterton revealed that she will be starring alongside Andrew Garfield in the Michael Mann’s ‘Capa’. A biopic based on Susana Fortes’ award-winning novel, “Waiting for Robert Capa”. Robert Capa was a pioneering combat photographer and photojournalist who covered five different wars.

“This year’s been intense, but next year’s going to be… intenser! [Laughs] I’m attached to about nine projects but I’m not sure which one’s I’m allowed to talk about.

But I’m aiming for even more diversity. Capa [biopic about the combat photographer Robert Capa] is confirmed, so I should be working with your hottest actor, Andrew Garfield! [Garfield is lined up to play Capa, Arterton plays his partner, Gerda Taro, the first female photojournalist to cover the front lines of a war] and of course there’s Clash 2…

And, fingers crossed, I’ll be working with Michael Winterbottom on London Fields and then there’s… actually, no, I better stop. You’re going to get me into trouble… But thanks for the award!”

As a sucker for biopics I’m pencilling this film under ‘highly anticipated’ in my upcoming movie directory – I don’t really have an upcoming movie directory…..I’m not quite that sad……I am highly anticipating this though! I’ve always got a lot of time for Andrew Garfield, Gemma Arterton and Michael Mann. At present no release date has been announced.

Production Weekly have brought word that James Franco and Javier Bardem may be up for parts in Clash of the Titans 2 -which is to be officially titled Wrath of the Titans. They Tweeted the following about the upcoming sequel:

‘Rumored casting choices for the Warner Bros. sequel “Wrath of the Titans”, Javier Bardem for Ares & James Franco for the role of Agenor.’

For those not brushed up on their Greek Mythology, Agenor is the King of Tyre and son of Poiseden and Libya, while Ares is the God of War. I like both Bardem and Franco a lot, but to be honest I’m not sure on a sequel to Clash Of The Titans, the first film was a turd huge disappointment. Battle: Los Angeles director Jonathan Liebesman is on board to direct the new sequel, while Sam Worthington and Gemma Arteron are set to return.
