International Poster For ‘The Green Hornet’ – Starring Seth Rogen, Jay Chou & Christoph Waltz
Jan 7th
Sony have unveiled this explosive new international poster for the upcoming superhero movie ‘The Green Hornet’. From what I’ve seen from the trailers and the various clips this looks like a blast, both Seth Rogen and Jay Chou look great in the two lead roles. The film co-stars Cameron Diaz, Christoph Waltz, Edward James Olmos, David Harbour and Tom Wilkinson. The Green Hornet comes to cinemas January 14th, 2011.
Britt Reid (Seth Rogen) is the son of LA’s most prominent and respected media magnate and perfectly happy to maintain a directionless existence on the party scene – until his father (Tom Wilkinson) mysteriously dies, leaving Britt his vast media empire. Striking an unlikely friendship with one of his father’s more industrious and inventive employees, Kato (Jay Chou), they see their chance to do something meaningful for the first time in their lives: fight crime. But in order to do this, they decide to become criminals themselves – protecting the law by breaking it, Britt becomes the vigilante The Green Hornet as he and Kato hit the streets.
Using all his ingenuity and skill, Kato builds the ultimate in advanced retro weaponry, The Black Beauty, an indestructible car equal parts firepower and horsepower. Rolling in a mobile fortress on wheels and striking the bad guys with Kato’s clever gadgets, The Green Hornet and Kato quickly start making a name for themselves, and with the help of Britt’s new secretary, Lenore Case (Cameron Diaz), they begin hunting down the man who controls LA’s gritty underworld: Benjamin Chudnofsky (Christoph Waltz). But Chudnofsky has plans of his own: to swat down The Green Hornet once and for all.

Three Hi-Res Images From Steven Spielberg’s The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn
Dec 30th
These three high resolution images from ‘The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn’ have finally been liberated online after they were featured in Empire Magazine a few months back. The film has a powerhouse team behind it – direction by Steven Spielberg, Peter Jackson on producing duties and a script co-written by Steven Moffat, the legend that is Edgar Wright, and Joe Cornish. I’m stoked! Look out for this is cinemas December 23th 2011.
“With live action you’re going to have actors pretending to be Captain Haddock and Tintin,” says Peter Jackson. “You’d be casting people to look like them. It’s not really going to feel like the Tintin Hergé drew. It’s going to be somewhat different. With CGI we can bring Hergé’s world to life, keep the stylised caricatured faces, keep everything looking like Hergé’s artwork, but make it photo-real.”
The film also stars Simon Pegg and Nick Frost as Thompson and Thomson respectively (“When people first heard that bit of casting they thought that we’d gone barking mad,” says Jackson. Adds Spielberg, “The Thompson Twins can’t be clones of each other. Nick and Simon provided all the differences we needed to foil for each other. They have a wonderful moment in the movie where they start to have an argument about whose sidekick is whose.”) and Daniel Craig as Red Rackham. It also features Cary Elwes, Toby Jones, Mackenzie Crook and Daniel Mays.
First Images From Lone Scherfig’s ‘One Day’ – Starring Jim Sturgess & Anne Hathaway
Dec 21st
‘One Day’ is director Lone Scherfig’s first film after the huge success of ‘An Education.’ The romance is based on the internationally praised best-selling novel by David Nicholls, and stars Anne Hathaway and Jim Sturgess as two students who meet on July 15th, 1988, on the night of their graduation. She is a working class girl of principle and ambition, he is a wealthy charmer. The two become fast friends and the story follows them every July 15th over the following 20 years as their lives encompass love and loss, heartbreak and success, hopes fulfilled and dreams shattered.
On paper this looks like it should be an enchanting portrait of a couple as they grow through life as quarrelling meant-to-be lovers. The film co-stars Patricia Clarkson, Romola Garai, Jamie Sives, Rafe Spall, Ken Stott and Jodie Whittaker. Look out for ‘One Day’ 3rd quarter 2011.
New Behind The Scenes Look At Sofia Coppola’s ‘Somewhere’ – Starring Stephen Dorff & Elle Fanning
Dec 1st
Focus Features have released this new behind-the-scenes featurette for Sofia Coppola‘s upcoming film ‘Somewhere’ on IMDB. I had the good fortune of viewing ’Somewhere’ a few weeks back, the films first class, it takes a wholly engrossing and atmospheric look at a father/daughter evolving bond. Both Stephen Dorff and Elle Fanning give fantastic performances. ‘Somewhere’ will hit cinemas December 22nd 2010.
Sofia Coppola’s (Lost in Translation) new film Somewhere tells the story of Johnny Marco (Stephen Dorff), a bad-boy A-List actor stumbling through a life of excess while living at Hollywood’s legendary Chateau Marmont Hotel. His days are a haze of drinks, girls, fast cars and fawning fans. Cocooned in this celebrity-induced artificial world, Johnny has lost all sense of his true self. Until, that is, his 11-year-old daughter Cleo (Elle Fanning) unexpectedly shows up and unwittingly begins to anchor him. Johnny’s fragile connection to real life slowly revives in her presence. So when the time comes fro Cleo to leave, his sense of loss is palpable, but the gift of hope she has also brought him leads to a beautiful, poetic denouement imbued with all of Coppola’s remarkable powers to conjure mood and atmosphere.
UK Poster & Quad For Clint Eastwood’s ‘Hereafter’ – Starring Matt Damon & Cécile de France
Nov 26th
Warner Bros have released the official UK Poster and Quad for Clint Eastwood’s upcoming film ‘Hereafter’. The supernatural thriller stars Matt Damon as a retired psychic who brings together a London school boy (twins Frankie and George McLaren) who lost his brother, and a French journalist (Cécile De France) who almost died in 2004. This movie looks like it will touch some heartbreaking territory, the premise sounds pretty intense.
The film received a lukewarm response when it was released last month in the States, I’ll still be checking it out though, strictly because it’s a Clint Eastwood movie – I’m a HUMONGOUS fan of his work, so humongous he thoroughly deserves the caps lock! Hereafter will be released in UK cinemas the 28th of January.
Hereafter tells the story of three people who are haunted by mortality in different ways. Matt Damon stars as George, a blue–collar American who has a special connection to the afterlife. On the other side of the world, Marie (Cécile de France), a French journalist, has a near–death experience that shakes her reality. And when Marcus (Frankie/George McLaren), a London schoolboy, loses the person closest to him, he desperately needs answers. Each on a path in search of the truth, their lives will intersect, forever changed by what they believe might—or must—exist in the hereafter.
