Ken Jeong Mr. Chow Interview For ‘The Hangover Part II’
May 23rd
In Todd Phillips’ hugely anticipated comedy sequel, ‘The Hangover Part II,’ Phil (Bradley Cooper), Stu (Ed Helms), Alan (Zach Galifianakis) and Doug (Justin Bartha) travel to exotic Thailand for Stu’s wedding. After the unforgettable bachelor party in Las Vegas, Stu is taking no chances and has opted for a safe, subdued pre-wedding brunch. However, things don’t always go as planned. What happens in Vegas may stay in Vegas, but what happens in Bangkok can’t even be imagined. Joining the gang for hilariously outrageous hijinks is Mr. Chow (Ken Jeong). Check out what Jeong had to say about the film below. ’The Hangover Part II’ is hitting cinemas My 26th.
I was so happy to see your character back in this movie. When you got the script was your reaction?
Ken Jeong: I’m so glad to be back! I was so grateful. When I first got the script I felt like it was funnier than the first films script. It was a tighter script, the script was really written for our voices. The first script was written, then we were cast in the movie, then it was tailored to our strengths. This script was exclusively for us. It was intoxicating to read it, it was great. I was crying from laughter reading it, my wife thought I was having a seizure. Even the first 20 pages, before my stuff, I was so excited.
When you have a funnier script, then you have Todd Phillips, a genius, a genius cast, Bradley, Ed, Zach, who’s the funniest man alive to me, Justin, Crystal the monkey, who steals the movie for me, we just had a relaxed confidence going into Bangkok. The chemistry was there after the first one, everyone trusted each other, everyone gets along with each other, that collaborative spirit is rare. To have that a second time, where no one has changed, everyone is as grounded as you can be. It was great.
Johnny Depp Interview For ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides’
May 18th
Aaarrrggghhh, avast me hearties! A legendary pirate of the Seven Seas, Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) is the irreverent trickster of the Caribbean. A captain of equally dubious morality and sobriety, a master of self-promotion and self-interest, he fights a constant and losing battle with his own best tendencies. Captain Jack Sparrow’s first love is the sea, his second his beloved ship the Black Pearl, whether it be lost or found, or lost again. Having battled the cursed Captain Hector Barbossa (Geoffrey Rush), the fearsome Davy Jones and the evil Lord Cutler Beckett in previous adventures, Captain Jack Sparrow must now contend with the notorious Captain Blackbeard (Ian McShane), and perhaps even more terrifying, the beautiful Angelica (Penelope Cruz), a lady with a past as chequered as Jack’s own. The fourth instalment in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides,’ is out now. Check out what Johnny Depp had to say about the film below…aye aye cap’n! Aarrrrrrrgggggggggghhh!
This is a character you’ve played four times, you must have really developed and bonded with Jack now.
Johnny Depp: It gives me the chance to wear women’s undergarments, which you don’t get every day, so when the chance comes along you should take it. It’s funny how the films have been accepted, and how the characters have been accepted. You think back to when we first started out on Pirates 1 it was very simple, just like any other character you just grab bits and pieces and out comes this weird little stew you’ve created, so none of us did anything different and then BOOM, what happened, happened. It’s just so much fun to get away with things you’re not normally allowed to get away with, to be totally irreverent, to play as absurd as you like. It’s a very special opportunity.
Brad Pitt Interview For ‘The Tree Of Life’
May 17th
‘The Tree of Life’ is Terrence Malick’s deeply philosophical, visually stunning and ambitious story of a Midwestern family in the 1950’s. The film follows the life journey of the eldest son, Jack, through the innocence of childhood to his disillusioned adult years as he tries to reconcile a complicated relationship with his father (Brad Pitt). Jack (played as an adult by Sean Penn) finds himself a lost soul in the modern world, seeking answers to the origins and meaning of life while questioning the existence of faith. Through Malick’s signature imagery, we see how both brute nature and spiritual grace shape not only our lives as individuals and families, but all life. Check out what Brad Pitt had to say about the film at the Cannes Film Festival below. The film is set for release May 27th.
Working with Terrence Malick must be an extraordinary and unique experience?
Brad Pitt: I could go on far too long about this (laughs), my section of the story takes place in the 50’s, Terry started by renting this entire block and dressing it as the 1950’s, therefore allowing us to go outside, wherever we wanted. His idea is, even though he gave us this very dense script, he never wanted us to do what he calls hammer and tongs – seeing to it as it’s written, he’s more interested in catching what was happening on the day. He’s like a guy standing there with a big butterfly net, waiting for that moment of truth to go by. The kids themselves weren’t given the script, they had a closet of clothes, they put on what they wanted to put on that day and that’s what we shot in. We would do two takes…..Terry would get up every morning and write for an hour, he would give us pages in the morning and we would develop something out of that. I think because of that the moments are fresh, they’re not preconceived in anyway, the lighting even, there was only one light in the house, everything else was natural light.
