Liam Hemsworth Interview For ‘The Hunger Games’
Mar 23rd
Each year in the ruins of what was once North America, the Capitol of the nation of Panem forces each of its twelve districts to send a teenage boy and girl, between the ages of 12 and 18, to compete in The Hunger Games. A twisted punishment for a past uprising and on ongoing government intimidation tactic, The Hunger Games are a nationally televised event in which Tributes must fight with one another until one survivor remains. When the young Primrose Everdeen (Willow Shields) has her name called, her 16-year-old sister Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) volunteers to enter the Games in her place. Once there, she is forced to rely upon her sharp instincts and, if she’s ever to return home to District 12, Katniss must make impossible choices in the arena that weigh survival against humanity and life against love. ‘The Hunger Games’ is directed by Gary Ross, it stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Amandia Stenberg, Alexander Ludwig, Elizabeth Banks, Lenny Kravitz, Donald Sutherland, Toby Jones and Stanley Tucci. ’The Hunger Games’ is based on Suzanne Collins’ best-selling novel. The film is out in cinemas now!
Gale is Katniss’ best friend in the story….
Liam Hemsworth: Yeah. Gale, he’s a boy from District 12. He becomes best friends with Katniss. Both of their fathers die in the same mining accident. They meet hunting in the woods and they both basically come from the same background and have to do the same thing in life – they both have to provide for their families that can’t provide for themselves.
Jennifer Lawrence Interview For ‘The Hunger Games’
Mar 22nd
In a not-too-distant future, the United States of America has collapsed, weakened by drought, fire, famine, and war, to be replaced by Panem, a country divided into the Capitol and 12 districts. Each year, two young representatives from each district are selected by lottery to participate in The Hunger Games. Part entertainment, part brutal intimidation of the subjugated districts, the televised games are broadcasted throughout Panem as the 24 participants are forced to eliminate their competitors, literally, with all citizens required to watch. When 16-year-old Katniss’ young sister, Prim, is selected as the mining district’s female representative, Katniss volunteers to take her place. She and her male counterpart, Peeta, the son of the town baker who seems to have all the fighting skills of a lump of bread dough, will be pitted against bigger, stronger representatives who have trained for this their whole lives.
‘The Hunger Games’ is based on Suzanne Collins’ best-selling novel, the first in a trilogy that has sold over 16 million copies in print in the United States alone. Directed by Gary Ross, the film pairs Oscar nominee Jennifer Lawrence with Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth in the key young adult roles. The likes of Woody Harrelson, Amandia Stenberg, Alexander Ludwig, Elizabeth Banks, Lenny Kravitz, Donald Sutherland, Toby Jones and Stanley Tucci co-star. ‘The Hunger Games’ is released in cinemas March 23rd.
Why do you think have so many people have responded to this story and this character?
Jennifer Lawrence: Because this is the generation that’s obsessed with reality television and watching people’s lives fall apart while we eat popcorn. This is the new generation that’s kind of started this obsession, and I’m every bit a part of it. The more tragic it gets the more ratings it gets, and the more we watch it, the more we love it. We live in the world where in the past and present and possibly future our governments, in certain countries, are controlling their people by keeping them separate and weak and hungry so that they’re not strong enough to fight back. I think that there are a lot of messages about history repeating itself and what happens when something is wrong and you stay quiet, and how we are the new generation. We are the generation that can change things and that can stand up. Also, I think people love following a character like this who’s a hero that doesn’t mean to be a hero, that kind of goes against all odds and fights back when something is wrong and doesn’t stay quiet.
Josh Hutcherson Interview For ‘The Hunger Games’

Every year in the ruins of what was once North America, the evil Capitol of the nation of Panem forces each of its twelve districts to send a teenage boy and girl to compete in the Hunger Games. A twisted punishment for a past uprising and an ongoing government intimidation tactic, The Hunger Games are a nationally televised event in which “Tributes” must fight with one another until one survivor remains. Pitted against highly-trained Tributes who have prepared for these Games their entire lives, Katniss is forced to rely upon her sharp instincts as well as the mentorship of drunken former victor Haymitch Abernathy. If she’s ever to return home to District 12, Katniss must make impossible choices in the arena that weigh survival against humanity and life against love. ‘The Hunger Games’ is directed by Gary Ross, and stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Amandia Stenberg, Alexander Ludwig, Elizabeth Banks, Lenny Kravitz, Donald Sutherland, Toby Jones and Stanley Tucci. ’The Hunger Games’ is based on Suzanne Collins’ best-selling novel, the first in a trilogy that has sold over 16 million copies in print in the United States alone. What appealed to you about Peeta?
Josh Hutcherson: For me, Peeta is an amazing character. I fell in love with him right away. What’s crazy is that I’ve never seen a character that’s so much of who I am as a person. I just feel like his self-deprecating humour, his outlook on life, how he doesn’t want things to change him – that’s really part of who I am as a person. Being in this movie business from a young age, from nine years old, there’s a lot of times where you could let things change you, let people have a big affect on you. You have to make sure you stay true to who you are and what your value system is, that was really important to me from a young age, and I think that’s something that really attracted to me about Peeta because that’s how he is as well. He’s very much like myself. He’s outgoing, very much a peoples person, he has a way of being able to talk to anybody he meets.
