‘The Dark Knight Rises’ Bonus Features Clip Focuses On Tom Hardy’s Transformation Into Bane
Nov 21st
With the home release of ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ fast approaching, Warner Bros. Pictures has released, via The Sun, this new clip from the films Blu-ray, DVD and Digital Download bonus features, centering on Tom Hardy’s transformation to play the dastardly, physically imposing and oddly charismatic villain, Bane. Hardy had just six weeks to completely transform his body for the role, gaining more than 30lbs of muscle in that time with regular workouts, an altered diet and training. In the clip, co-star Christian Bale shared his thoughts on the importance of making Bane a large and threatening character, saying, “Obviously we wanted to make sure that physically we recognise that Bane is superior, and this is the first time that Batman has come across anybody who is superior.” ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ arrives on home release from December 3rd in the UK and December 4th in the US.
’The Dark Knight Rises’ sees Christian Bale returning to the dual role of Bruce Wayne and Batman alongside series regulars Commissioner Jim Gordon (Gary Oldman), Lucius Fox (Morgan Freeman), and Alfred (Michael Caine). Alongside Tom Hardy’s Bane, newcomers to Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy include Anne Hathaway’s Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s John Blake, Marion Cotillard’s Miranda Tate, Matthew Modine’s Foley, and Ben Mendelsohn’s Daggett. The story for ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ is set eight years after Batman took the fall for Two Face’s crimes in ‘The Dark Knight.’ It sees the Caped Crusader resurface to protect a city that brands him an enemy as a new terrorist leader, Bane, overwhelms Gotham’s finest. Christopher Nolan’s conclusion to his Dark Knight trilogy is currently the 7th highest grossing movie of all time at the worldwide box office with earnings of $1,080.8 billion. The film is also the 7th highest grossing film of all time in the United States with $447.9 million earned.
