Heating up the promotional campaign for ‘The Dictator,’ Sacha Baron Cohen’s latest comedy transformation as the deposed ruler of the Republic of Wadiya, Universal Pictures has launched this pretty fantastic official website for the mock-Nation with RepublicOfWadiya.com. Head on over to the site to learn more about the Republic’s leader, Shabazz Aladeen (Baron Cohen), alongside new images, the Republic’s calendar, weather forecast, a hilarious news feed, and links to the Republic’s Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube pages. Below is a taster of what to expect.
“Birth: Supreme Leader Shabazz Aladeen gave a great gift to the world when he decided to be born. He was seventh son of the glorious Wadiyan President-For-Life Omar Aladeen. His mother was an Air France stewardess who tragically died of an oxygen underdose shortly after Aladeen’s birth in 1982 – this fact means he is now 30 years old. Any photos you may have seen of Aladeen as a child in the mid-70s, including a great one of him at the premiere of Saturday Night Fever, were doctored by the corrupt Zionist Western media.”
Written by Sacha Baron Cohen and directed by Larry Charles (Borat, Bruno), the film is set for a May 11th release in the US, and May 18th release in the UK. The likes of Anna Faris, J.B. Smoove, Jason Mantzoukas, Megan Fox, John C. Reilly, and Ben Kingsley co-star. The Dictator’ tells the heroic story of a dictator who risked his life to ensure that democracy would never come to the country he so lovingly oppressed. With the 84th Academy Awards fast approaching, The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has released the trailer for the show in conjunction with Funny Or Die. The trailer features host Billy Crystal and cameo appearances from the likes of Robin Williams, Josh Duhamel, Megan Fox, William Fichtner and Vinnie Jones. “We wanted to try something a little bit different this year instead of a traditional, clip-based piece,” said Academy Chief Marketing Officer Christina Kounelias. “The trailer has a fun twist that conveys how excited everyone is to have Billy back.”
“Our team had a great time working with the Academy and joining forces with Billy again,” said Mike Farah, Funny Or Die’s president of production. “We think the trailer really speaks to the excitement around this year’s Oscars®, and Funny Or Die was honored to be a part of it.”

The Hollywood Reporter bring word that Megan Fox and John C. Reilly are making cameos in Paramount’s ‘The Dictator,’ Sacha Baron Cohen’s latest comedy transformation. Anna Faris, Jason Mantzoukas and Ben Kingsley are also taking part in the films deliriously insane shenanigans. At this moment in time Fox and Reilly’s roles are being kept under wraps. ‘The Dictator’ tells the heroic story of a dictator who risked his life to ensure that democracy would never come to the country he so lovingly oppressed. It is inspired by the best selling novel “Zabibah and The King” by Saddam Hussein. The film is set for for a May 12th, 2012 release date.
Sacha Baron Cohen plays a ruthless dictator who heads to the U.S. for a meeting at the United Nations and finds that his number two has replaced him with an unsuspecting sheepherder lookalike. As the dictator wanders the city, he meets the owner of an organic food store… She turns around his dictatorial thinking, and there’s a little romance in it as well.

Entertainment Tonight have liberated this debut (low quality?) trailer for Mitch Glazer’s upcoming noir-drama ‘Passion Play,’ which stars the likes of Mickey Rourke, Bill Murray, Rhys Ifans and Megan Fox. With three of my favourite actors on board in Rourke, Ifans and Murray I had been intrigued by this flick, this trailer has pretty much vaporized my interest, it looks crap doesn’t look good at all. ‘Passion Play’ is out in the US May 6th, no UK date at this moment in time.
Nate (Rourke), a small-time jazz musician, is clearly a hard-luck case. Caught trying to break into a car, he is taken off into the desert where his assailant puts a gun to his head. Game over? Not quite. Stumbling into a circus pitched amidst the vast expanses of the southwest desert, Nate finds himself drawn to the exotic beauty of Lily (Fox), the Bird Woman. Lily is cold and dismissive; socializing with customers is not her scene. But it dawns on her that this gentle giant may well be her way out of a life of eccentric exposition. Nate is protective and understanding, and to him her aquiline beauty is a magic part of her uniqueness. As their bond deepens, Nate finds that his dreams of bliss are about to be thwarted by Happy Shannon (Murray), a cucumber-cool businessman with deep pockets and an eye for the bizarre.
Drawing on the remarkable talents of its high-powered cast, this wonderfully offbeat film is filled with surprises and proves that magic can be found in many places. Mitch Glazer balances the tough-guy moments and the rocky romance with the touch and feel of a high-wire artist. It makes for a spirited and uplifting spectacle with all the spirited colour of the circus.
