Tom Hooper’s ‘Les Miserables’ Set For Release December 2012 – Starring Hugh Jackman & Russell Crowe
Sep 9th
If you were wondering what director Tom Hooper would follow up his multiple Academy Award winning drama ‘The King’s Speech’ with, look no further as Deadline have revealed that a December 7th, 2012 release date has been set for Hooper’s live-action adaptation of Victor Hugo’s 1862 novel and the stage musical ‘Les Miserables.’ Additionally Deadline bring word that Russell Crowe will be starring as the misguided Javert opposite Hugh Jackman’s Jean Valjean – Jackson had been linked to the project for some time.
This seemed to be in the cards when 20th Century Fox pushed back ‘Wolverine 2′ until at least the spring. The delay gives Jackman a chance to make ‘Les Miserables,’ a film that will likely feature in the 2013 Oscar race, and then reprise the role he originated in X-Men. December 2012 is already stacked with a number of eagerly anticipated films in Ang Lee’s ‘Life Of Pi,’ Quentin Tarantino‘s ‘Django Unchained, ‘Lone Ranger’ and Peter Jackson’s ‘The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.’ UPDATE - THR are reporting that Helena Bonham Carter is in talks to star in the film as Thenardier’s wife.

Aug 16th
Warner Bros have released this new image from Clint Eastwood’s upcoming biopic ‘J. Edgar,’ providing us with our first look at Naomi Watts as Helen Gandy, and another look at Leonardo DiCaprio portraying J. Edgar Hoover. The film co-stars Armie Hammer as Clyde Toulson, Hoover’s second in command, and secret lover, Judie Dench plays Hoover’s mother. Lea Thompson, Josh Lucas, Damon Herriman and Ed Westwick also star. Clint Eastwood directs from a script by ‘Milk’ Oscar winner Dustin Lance Black. Warner Bros is releasing ‘J. Edgar’ November 9th.
Based on the life of J. Edgar Hoover, the man often credited with making the FBI what it is today: an efficient, crime-fighting organization shrouded in secrecy. Hoover founded the organization in 1935 and remained director until his death in 1972.
As America’s top cop for five decades, J. Edgar Hoover oversaw the creation of the FBI, helped popularize fingerprints and other forensic evidence, and wielded nearly unchecked authority to manipulate evidence and investigate supposed enemies of the state such as Robert F. Kennedy and Martin Luther King Jr. Now director Clint Eastwood is turning the tables, prying into Hoover’s life in a big-screen biopic that would doubtless make the notorious G-man squirm.

The movie traces Hoover’s life from his childhood in Washington, D.C., through his ascent to power in the 1920s, his 50-year reign over the FBI, and his death in 1972 — with Leonardo DiCaprio donning prosthetic makeup to portray the man well into his bulldog-like elderly years. ”To me, it’s really a story of how absolute power corrupts absolutely,” says the star. ”He was always an outsider.”
Anne Hathaway Interview For ‘One Day’
Aug 10th
‘One Day’ is a charming story of a couple as they grow through life as quarrelling meant-to-be lovers. It’s based on the internationally praised best-selling novel by David Nicholls and stars Anne Hathaway and Jim Sturgess as two students who meet on July 15th, 1988, on the night of their graduation. Anne Hathaway’s character Emma is a working class girl of principle and ambition, Jim Sturgess’ Dexter is a wealthy charmer. For the next two decades, key moments of their relationship are experienced over several July 15ths in their lives. Together and apart, we see Dexter and Emma through their friendship and fights, hopes and missed opportunities, laughter and tears. Somewhere along their journey, these two people realize that what they are searching and hoping for has been there for them all along. As the true meaning of that one day back in 1988 is revealed, they come to terms with the nature of love and life itself. ‘One Day’ co-stars Patricia Clarkson, Romola Garai, Jamie Sives, Rafe Spall, Ken Stott and Jodie Whittaker. Look out for ‘One Day’ in UK cinemas August 26th, and August 19th in the US.
How does Emma link within the story?
Anne Hathaway: We meet Emma right at the beginning of the film, she’s just completed her study at Edinburgh University. On the very last night – probably that she’ll ever see him – she meets Dexter Mayhew, a boy that she’s had a crush on for a very long time in school. A boy very very different from her, and against her better judgement she winds up going home with him. Things don’t go exactly as planned (laughs), I think they were expecting a romantic…something to happen (laughs). Instead they kind of wind up talking and connecting. The movie takes off from there, it’s the story of their friendship and how it changes, it grows, and is challenged over the course of twenty years.
New Poster For Steven Spielberg’s ‘The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn’
Aug 8th
This poster, which had been floating around online over the weekend in a lower quality form, has been officially released for Steven Spielberg’s motion-capture 3D adventure movie ‘The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn.’ From what I’ve seen this film looks a tonne of fun, the visuals are stunning, definitely a flick I’ll be giving a peep when it hits cinemas. ‘The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn’ is set for release October 26th in the UK, and December 23rd in the US. The film stars Jamie Bell as Tintin, Andy Serkis as Captain Haddock, Daniel Craig as Red Rackham, Simon Pegg as Inspector Thompson, Nick Frost as Thomson, Gad Elmaleh as Ben Salaad, Toby Jones as Silk, and Mackenzie Crook playing Earnie. The fact that Steven Moffat (Dr Who and Sherlock screenwriter), Edgar Wright (Hot Fuzz, Shaun of the Dead, Scott Pilgrim) and Joe Cornish (Attack The Block) are on script duty has to be a good sign?!
Paramount Pictures and Columbia Pictures Present a 3D Motion Capture Film “The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn” directed by Steven Spielberg from a screenplay by Steven Moffat and Edgar Wright & Joe Cornish. Starring Jamie Bell (“Billy Elliot,” “Defiance”) as Tintin, the intrepid young reporter whose relentless pursuit of a good story thrusts him into a world of high adventure, and Daniel Craig (“Quantum of Solace,” “Defiance”) as the nefarious Red Rackham.
Daniel Radcliffe ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2′ Interview
Jul 15th
The final adventure in the Harry Potter film series begins as Harry (Daniel Radcliffe), Ron (Rupert Grint), and Hermione (Emma Watson) continue their quest of finding and destroying the Dark Lord’s three remaining Horcruxes, the magical items responsible for his immortality. But as the mystical Deathly Hallows are uncovered, and Lord Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes) finds out about their mission, the biggest battle begins and life as they know it will never be the same again.
Throughout the series Daniel Radcliffe has played Harry Potter, the brave, loyal and selfless title character and primary protagonist. Check out what he had to say about the film below. ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2′ hits cinemas in 3D, 2D and IMAX 3D July 15th.
What is your overriding emotion right now with the end of Harry Potter?
Daniel Radcliffe: It’s hard to say. But I’m so proud of this final film. I think of it as being light years ahead of any of the other films in the series, and I find it amazing that we shot Part 1 and Part 2 at the same time because I think Part 2 is such a different film from Part 1. Part 1 was great but I think this one’s the best film we’ve ever made, so I’m just so thrilled that we’re going out on this positive note.
