Jon Hamm ‘Aged Out’ Of Portraying Superman/Clark Kent In Zack Snyder’s ‘Superman: Man of Steel’
Jan 17th
On the red carpet of the Critics Choice Awards MTV asked Jon Hamm about the rumours regarding him playing Superman, the actor responded that he has spoken with director Zack Snyder, whom Hamm worked with on the upcoming Sucker Punch, and confirmed that it’s “a young man’s game” and that he’s been “aged out.”
I had a sneaky feeling that this would be the case after reports came out that producer Christopher Nolan, and director Zack Snyder are looking at actors who are between the ages of 28 and 32 (or at least appear that age) for the iconic role – Hamm is turning 40 years old in March. The likes of Armie Hammer (The Social Network), Joe Manganiello (True Blood), and Ian Somerhalder (Lost, The Vampire Diaries) are said to be amongst the frontrunners for the role. Look out for ‘Superman: Man of Steel’ swooping into cinemas Summer 2012. Production is said to start June 2011.

Michael Bay Talks About ‘Transformers: Dark of the Moon’ – Plus A New Set Image
Jan 15th
Accompanying an interview with Michael Bay Hero Complex have got their hands on this new behind-the-scenes image of Shia LaBeouf, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Bay on the set of ‘Transformers: Dark of the Moon’. In the interview the director points out how he wants people to forget the gigantic piece of excrement that was Transformers 2: “It was kind of a mess, wasn’t it?” an unsmiling Bay said of the 2009 film.’
“I’m still having fun and especially with this movie,” Bay said. ”Look, we got burned on the last movie. The big thing was the writers strike, it hurt the film and it made it hard on everybody. We had three weeks to get our story and, really, we were going into the movie without a script. It’s tough to do that. It was too big of a movie. There were too many endings or too many things that felt like endings. There was so much animation [in the visual effects postproduction work], too, and we ran out of time. We used the schedule of the first movie for the second movie but on the second one way more labor was needed for the animation. And then it felt like we were writing the script in the edit room, trying to put together a story.”
Transformers: Dark of The Moon comes to cinemas July 1st, 2011 and stars Shia LaBeouf, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Julie White, Ken Jeong, Kevin Dunn, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson, Alan Tudyk and John Malkovich.
New ‘Sherlock Holmes 2′ Details & Image – Featuring Robert Downey Jnr & Jude Law
Jan 14th
‘Excellent! I cried. “Elementary,” said he’ – this new image has been released online for Guy Ritchie’s Sherlock Holmes 2 via Hero Comlex. The website also give some details about the upcoming sequel via their set visit:
‘Set in 1891 — a year after the last film’s events — the sequel shows Holmes continuing his pursuit of Professor Moriarty (played by Jared Harris), who, if the investigator’s instincts are correct, might be the world’s first supervillain. Watson, meanwhile, is still trying to be a good partner to his love, Mary Morstan (Kelly Reilly), while keeping Sherlock alive.
From the looks of things, that latter task won’t be particularly easy, given that Ritchie appears to be continuing with the gritty, stylized approach he adopted for the first movie. “I think one of the most exciting things in this one is the fear level,” says Law. “We get pretty kicked around. Just look at the state of us.”
“Unlike last time, where Holmes kept getting Watson into trouble,” adds actor Downey, “this time Watson is getting Holmes out of trouble, and they’re both in deeper trouble than I think the audience could have imagined we could go…. All manner of nastiness has just occurred.”
Sherlock Holmes 2 is set for release December 16th, 2011. The movie stars Robert Downey Jnr, Jude Law, Noomi Rapace, Stephen Fry and Jared Harris. Expect more Sherlock Holmes 2 updates coming soon!
New Featurette For Kevin Macdonald’s ‘The Eagle’ – Starring Channing Tatum, Jamie Bell & Mark Strong
Jan 14th
This new featurette has been released online for Kevin Macdonald’s (State of Play, The Last King of Scotland) upcoming Roman epic ‘The Eagle’. The movie is based off the 1954 novel ‘The Eagle of the Ninth’ written by Rosemary Sutcliff, and stars Channing Tatum, Jamie Bell, Donald Sutherland, Mark Strong, and Tahar Rahim. I’m a complete sucker for sword and sandals movies. Any film that features an abundance of cowls, shields, blood, excessive mud, swords, spears and fire lances is certain to tickle my fancy!
In 140 AD, two men – master and slave – venture beyond the edge of the known world on a dangerous and obsessive quest that will push them beyond the boundaries of loyalty and betrayal, friendship and hatred, deceit and heroism…The Roman epic adventure THE EAGLE stars Channing Tatum and Jamie Bell and is directed by Academy Award winner Kevin Macdonald. 20 years earlier, Rome’s 5,000-strong Ninth Legion, under the command of Flavius Aquila, marched north carrying their treasured golden Eagle emblem. They never returned; Legion and Eagle simply vanished into the mists. Hearing a rumor that the Eagle has been seen in a tribal temple in the far north, Flavius’ son Marcus (Tatum), determined to restore the tarnished reputation of his father, is galvanized into action. Accompanied only by his slave Esca (Bell), Marcus sets out into the vast and dangerous highlands of Scotland – to confront its savage tribes, make peace with his father’s memory, and retrieve the hallowed Eagle. Along the way Marcus realizes that the mystery of his father’s disappearance may well be linked to the secret of his own slave’s identity and loyalty – a secret all the more pressing when the two come face-to-face with the warriors of the fearsome Seal Prince (Tahar Rahim).
