New Tron Legacy Poster
Jan 20th

As you can probably tell from the logo in the corner, MTV have released a very slick and shiny new Tron Legacy poster. Disney aren’t playing around with the marketing of this film, this is the 3rd poster I’ve seen from this and we’re still 12 months away from it’s release. I remember watching the original as a kid and loving it, I hope this lives up to my expectations, visually it looks like it’ll be stunning, I always enjoy Jeff Bridges as well so I’m keeping my eye on this.
TRON: LEGACY is a 3D high-tech adventure set in a digital world that’s unlike anything ever captured on the big screen. Sam Flynn (GARRETT HEDLUND), the tech-savvy 27-year-old son of Kevin Flynn (JEFF BRIDGES), looks into his father’s disappearance and finds himself pulled into the digital world of Tron where his father has been living for 25 years. Along with Kevin’s loyal confidant Quorra (OLIVIA WILDE), father and son embark on a life-and-death journey of escape across a visually-stunning cyber universe that has become far more advanced and exceedingly dangerous.
Hugh Jackman set to star in Real Steel
Nov 24th

Variety have reported that DreamWorks Steven Spielberg and Stacey Snider have greenlit Real Steel. This is the first film the studio has made since locking in $825 million. Real Steel will be directed by Shawn Levy (Night at the Museum) and star Hugh Jackman. It is based on a short story by Richard Matheson. Steven Spielberg and Stacey Snider will be producing at DreamWorks, Real Steel is the first movie they’ve greenlit since splitting with Universal. Production will start on this project in June. The planned budget is $80 million.

Real Steel focuses on a fighter who has to reinvent himself when human boxers are replaced by robots. Jackman is going to play a struggling Robot Boxing promoter. He finds a discarded robot that always seems to come up on the winning end. Jackman’s character also realizes he has a 11-year-old son, and they grow closer as the robot fights its way toward the top.
Danny Boyle signs up for 127 Hours
Nov 9th

The Oscar winning Director of Slumdog Millionaire, Trainspotting and 28 Weeks Later has signed up with Fox Searchlight to direct the story of Aron Ralston, the mountain climber who amputated his own arm to free himself from being trapped by a boulder. Ralston’s right forearm was pinned for nearly five days under a boulder, forcing him to use a dull knife to amputate the limb. He then scaled a 65-foot sheer wall and hiked out before running into a family that gave him water and food.
The role of Aron Ralston is rumored to have gone to Ryan Gosling (hopefully reports are true!), I’m sure if done well this will be an Oscar nominated role, being on screen by himself pretty much the whole film and with such an strong and emotional subject matter this role is an actors dream. Boyle has said that the first hour of the film will have no dialogue, since Ralston was alone during his mountain climb.I’m looking forward to this!
