Christian Bale Reveals That ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ Will Be The Last Time He Portrays Batman ‘Unless Christopher Nolan Says Different’
Nov 23rd

In a recent chinwag with Totalfilm, Christian Bale declared that the upcoming Batman film, ‘The Dark Knight Rises‘, will be the third and final time he portrays Bruce Wayne/Batman ‘unless [Christopher Nolan] says different’.
“The thing is that this will be, I believe, unless [Christopher Nolan] says different, this will be the last time I’m playing Batman.”
Christopher Nolan has said for a while now that ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ will be the conclusion to the story he started with ‘Batman Begins’. ”Viewing it as an ending, that sets you very much on the right track about the appropriate conclusion and the essence of what tale we’re telling. And it hearkens back to that priority of trying to find the reality in these fantastic stories. That’s what we do.”
In the interview Bale also reveals what he knows about the top-secret script :
“Chris will let me know what I need to know when I need to know it,” he said. “It’s our fourth movie together, and I probably know a little bit more than maybe some people out there, but I think most people will be surprised by how little I do know.”
“It just hasn’t been necessary yet,” he continued. “I know he’ll give me plenty of time to prepare whatever I need to for it and I’ll discover it. He’s a pretty damn good filmmaker I trust that he’s going to come up with something wonderful.”
The Dark Knight Rises has a release date of June 20th 2012 and stars Christian Bale, Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman and Tom Hardy.
Tom Hardy Rumoured To Be Playing Dr. Hugo Strange In Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Dark Knight Rises’
Nov 17th
I’m still holding out for Catwoman, but apparently according to Batman News and it’s unnamed source, Tom Hardy is rumoured to be playing Dr. Hugo Strange as the main villain in The Dark Knight Rises. Strange is as mad as a hatter with box of frog‘s – it’d be a great role for Hardy.
My source strongly believes that Hardy is going to be playing Hugo Strange. This is the first bit of information from this person that I’m publishing, however they have been accurate in the past. For example, this person told me weeks before the recent Christoper Nolan interview that The Riddler would not be appearing in the film. They also mentioned that Rachel Weisz and Anne Hathaway were in the running for the lead female role a couple of weeks before Deadline posted their list.
I have to admit all this villain speculation is doing my head in! So far it looks like we’ll have a male villain in Tom Hardy, and a female villain in which the likes of Rachel Weisz, Naomi Watts, Blake Lively, Natalie Portman, Anne Hathaway and Keira Knightley are said to be circling (along with Batman‘s/Bruce Wayne‘s love interest). Hopefully we can get some concrete casting news soon. The Dark Knight Rises has a release date of June 20th 2012 and stars Christian Bale, Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman and Tom Hardy.
Carey Mulligan Confirmed As Daisy Buchanan In Baz Luhrmann’s ‘The Great Gatsby’ – Plus Her Rehearsal Photo
Nov 16th
Those scoopmeisters over at Deadline have reported that Carey Mulligan has been confirmed for the female lead (Daisy Buchanan) in Baz Luhrmann’s highly anticipated adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s novel The Great Gatsby. The likes of Scarlett Johansson, Keira Knightley, Amanda Seyfried, Natalie Portman, Rebecca Hall, Blake Lively, Abbie Cornish and Michelle Williams were all previously linked to the part.
Luhrmann delivered the message to Deadline, and gave me the above photo he took of Mulligan during rehearsals, when she was in Daisy Buchanan mode on November 2. “The results from the workshop process on The Great Gatsby have been very encouraging,” he told Deadline. “There are a few elements that I feel need to be resolved before I would categorically state that this is my next film. Regarding the role of Daisy Buchanan, I was privileged to explore the character with some of the world’s most talented actresses, each one bringing their own particular interpretation, all of which were legitimate and exciting. However, specific to this particular production of The Great Gatsby, I was thrilled to pick up the phone an hour ago to the young Oscar-nominated British actress Carey Mulligan and say to her: “Hello, Daisy Buchanan.”
I’m a massive fan of Mulligan she’s an incredibly talented actress, it’s great to see her career go from strength to strength. This is without a doubt set to be her biggest role to date. In the other lead roles Leonardo DiCaprio is set to play Jay Gatsby, while Tobey Maguire seems to be a lock for Nick Carraway, the novel’s narrator and best friend to Gatbsy. The Great Gatsby is scheduled to start filming Spring 2011.

Teaser Poster For ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides’ – Starring Johnny Depp, Penelope Cruz & Ian McShane
Nov 15th
IMPawards have got hands on the first teaser poster for ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides’, the fourth instalment in the Pirates Of The Caribbean franchise. This poster gets a resounding yawn from me, to be frank I’m not that excited by this movie in general – do we really need a fourth film?!?!? I guess at least they’ve swapped Kiera Knightly for Penelope Cruz and Ian McShane is involved
. Hopefully this film brings some magic back to the franchise. Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides will be released in cinemas May 20th 2011.
Produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and directed by Rob Marshall, “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” captures the fun, adventure and humor that ignited the hit franchise—this time in Disney Digital 3D™. Johnny Depp returns to his iconic role of Captain Jack Sparrow in an action-packed tale of truth, betrayal, youth and demise. When Jack crosses paths with a woman from his past (Penelope Cruz), he’s not sure if it’s love—or if she’s a ruthless con artist who’s using him to find the fabled Fountain of Youth. When she forces him aboard the Queen Anne’s Revenge, the ship of the formidable pirate Blackbeard (Ian McShane), Jack finds himself on an unexpected adventure in which he doesn’t know who to fear more: Blackbeard or the woman from his past.
The international cast includes franchise vets Geoffrey Rush as the vengeful Captain Hector Barbossa, and Kevin R. McNally as Captain Jack’s longtime comrade Joshamee Gibbs, plus Sam Claflin as a stalwart missionary and Astrid Berges-Frisbey as a mysterious mermaid. In theaters Memorial Day weekend, 2011.
Darren Aronofsky Reveals The Official Title Of The X-Men Origins: Wolverine Sequel As ‘The Wolverine’
Nov 14th

In a recent chinwag with Hitflix, director Darren Aronofsky revealed the title for the new Wolverine movie as ‘The Wolverine’. He also goes on to say that the film will NOT be a sequel to the Gavin Hood-directed X-Men Origins: Wolverine. The script is by The Usual Suspects scribe Christopher McQuarrie, and takes inspiration from the Chris Claremont/Frank Miller Marvel miniseries from the 1980s dealing with the character’s adventures in Japan.
The film that he’s directing is officially called “The Wolverine,” and there won’t be a number attached to it. In our interview, he referred to the movie as a “one-off,” and he emphasized that the film isn’t a sequel in any conventional sense.
I’ve got full faith in Aronofsky bringing the best out of one of the Comic world’s most fascinating and best loved characters. He’s been the man behind some of my favourite films of the last twelve years in The Wrestler, The Fountain (which starred Hugh Jackman), Requiem for a Dream, Pi and not to mention this years much buzzed about Black Swan. Hopefully this could help us forget the first Wolverine movie – a humongous horse turd of a film! X-Men Origins: Wolverine 2 comes to cinemas in 2012 and stars Hugh Jackman.
