Expendables – Ultimate mans film, Sylvester Stallone talks Arnold and Bruce Willis
Nov 2nd

Expendables is in cinemas August 20th, 2010, the films cast is an action fans dream – Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Eric Roberts, Randy Couture, Stone Cold Steve Austin, David Zayas, Giselle Itié, Terry Crews, Mickey Rourke, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Brittany Murphy, Charisma Carpenter, Liam Hemsworth and Gary Daniels. Sylvester Stallone recently talked to Entertainement Weekly about the scene with Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis. Looking forward to this, definitely one to watch with your mates!
Stallone said the superstar-summit scene takes place in a church, where Willis’ nasty antagonist has summoned Stallone’s macho mercenary to finally meet him face-to-face, take measure of him, and possibly hire him for a death-defying mission. But just as the meeting gets under way and smartass smalltalk is made, in walks another killer-for-hire — Stallone’s longtime rival, who Willis has also invited to this job interview: Ah-nuld.
“Bruce says ‘Well, there’s one other person I want to talk to before I hire you,” says Stallone. “And then Arnold, who plays my old rival, walks in. We have a history together. And we go back and forth and I tell him that I should have shot him a long time ago when I had the chance. Then it goes on from there. And here we are, the three of us trying to man up to one another, playing off of who we are, using our baggage in this one scene.”
Stallone says that big scene with Willis, Schwarzenegger, and himself would amount to more than a cameo or a stunt in the final cut of the film. “It’s probably going to be about 5 minutes of screen time.” Which, if you think about it, is kind of impressive considering that Willis and Schwarzenegger were only on the L.A. set for 6 hours. “We only had them for that one day and then Bruce had to go off to Istanbul and Arnold had to go back and do his governmental stuff. But I was impressed because they got up at 5:30 in the morning to do this.”
When asked if the Governator was rusty since he hasn’t been on screen since 2004’s Around the World in 80 Days and has spent most of his time in Sacramento, Stallone laughs and says no. “It’s like riding a bicycle.” Then he adds, “It’s funny because between the three of us, if you add up all the box office and DVD rentals and all of that, there’s like $15 billion in that one scene!”
Ghostbusters 3 Update
Oct 30th

At the London Film Festival I attended the press conference for Chloe (Atom Egoyen’s new film starring Liam Neeson, Julian Moore and Amanda Seyfried) attending the press conference were Egoyen, Moore, Seyfried and the producer Ivan Reitman – director and producer of the Ghostbusters movies. Ivan gave us a nice little update on the progress of Ghostbusters 3.
‘I produced and directed the first two, I would feel very weird to give it up to someone else for the third one. The key question is can we get a script that best honours particularly the first movie, its somehow held on after over 25 years, people respond to it in a remarkable way. The Ghostbusters game came out a year ago which turned out to be the 2nd most popular game in the world, it reminded us that wow people really love these characters, Sony has been desperate for another sequel, they really hired these writers on there own, slowly Harold Ramis, Dan Ayckroyd and I have got on board, I’ve been meeting now regularly with the writers trying to get a draft everyone can sign off on and that’s where we are. Probably in the Ten or more years since the last one this is probably the best shot we’ve had at it’
Sherlock Holmes – new poster and Guy Ritchie Interview
Oct 26th

Above is the new poster for Sherlock Homes. I’m really looking forward to this, a lot of people are hating on the film – mainly due to the fact the trailers not very Sherlock Holmes-esque and English people hating the fact that an American is playing an iconic English character. Trailers have to be taken with a pinch of salt nowadays, the distributor wants to SELL the film the best way it can, trailers often misrepresent films – perfectly shown with The Road and Watchmen.
I’ve enjoyed Guy Ritchies previous films (apart from Swept Away and Revolver, I class those two in the Madonna years category, she’s accountable). Also Robert Downie Jnr is a G and I have a soft spot for Rachel McAdams so I’m sold.
Where does your fascination of the underworld come from?
Guy Ritchie: I think it’s the most efficient polarization of humans, you can get to the good and the bad, the grey, the black and white much more efficiently. I’m not obsessed with the underworld I’m just obsessed with humans and how we act I think we all are, which is why we go cinema.
We’re all guilty of judging things before we see them, a lot of people would label this as a typical Guy Ritchie film, do you think that benefits or limits it?
Guy Ritchie: If your explicit that this is a Guy Ritchie film I have no problem with that, it`s become sort of a brand and I think there`s positives with that because of peoples reactions to Snatch and Lock Stock, but I think there`s gonna be films that are gonna be under the brand but then there`s gonna be films that are not gonna be under the brand. My theory is that you bring my name out of the equation with films that aren`t in Rocknrolla`s and Snatch`s genre, so with Sherlock Holmes I`d rather just see it as Sherlock Holmes in which it`s directed by Guy Ritchie.
What other film genre`s would you like work with?
Guy Ritchie: A World War 2 movie, comedy, I like kids movies, the list could go on. I see this as the beginning of my career to be honest you know, I’m looking forward to making as many different films as I can over the next 10 years,
Sherlock Homes is in cinemas Boxing Day
