Zack Snyder To Direct The Christopher Nolan Produced Superman Reboot ‘Man Of Steel’
Oct 5th
Deadline have reported that Zack Snyder (Dawn of the Dead, 300, Watchmen, Sucker Punch) has been confirmed as the director of Warner Bros upcoming Christopher Nolan produced Superman reboot ‘Man Of Steel’. He reportedly beat out the likes of Tony Scott, Matt Reeves, Jonathan Liebesman, Duncan Jones and Darren Aronofsky for the gig. With the pick of Snyder I expect a dark tone, mind boggling visuals and a tonne of slow motion to boot from the movie. Here’s what Snyder had to say about the project:
“I’ve been a big fan of the character for a long time, he’s definitely the king of all superheroes, he’s the one. It’s early yet, but I can tell you that what David and Christopher Nolan have done with the story so far definitely has given me a great insight into a way to make him feel modern. I’ve always felt he was kind of awesome. I’ll finish Sucker Punch and get right at it.”
A number of sources have also hinted that the villain may be none other than General Zod. To be frank I’ve never been a fan of Superman, he’s always had too much power and too little personality for me. However even I am excited by the prospect of a Superman movie directed by Snyder. Not to mention Christopher Nolan, the man with the best current streak of great films (Memento, Insomnia, Batman Begins, The Prestige, The Dark Knight and Inception) onboard undertaking a godfather role for the project. Look out for this swooping down in cinemas Summer 2012.
Inception IMAX Experience TV Spot
Jun 25th
I’m so psyched, a thought provoking film that will grab you by your eye balls. Inception is gearing up to be the foremost cinematic experience of 2010. Early reviews from the states have been glowing. Screendaily have reported, ‘the applause after the screening was very hearty and ScreenDaily overheard quite a few ‘brilliant’ comments’. The Rolling Stone’s review also gives Inception two big thumbs up.
“The mind-blowing movie event of the summer arrives just in time to hold back the flow of Hollywood sputum that’s been sliming the multiplex. ‘Inception’…will be called many things, starting with James Bond Meets ‘The Matrix.’ You can feel the vibe of Ridley Scott’s ‘Blade Runner’ in it, and Nolan’s own ‘Memento’ and ‘The Dark Knight.’ But ‘Inception’ glows with a blue-flame intensity all its own. Nolan creates a dream world that he wants us to fill with our own secrets.”
Batman 3 News – Look’s Like It Won’t Be Shot In 3D
Apr 21st
I’m of two minds about 3D movies if I’m honest, I can understand the people that like the effect and how (when done well) it helps heighten the cinematic experience, for example with Avatar, yet on the other hand I also understand the people that are (viciously) against 3D, especially when considering how Warner Brothers butchered Clash Of The Titans by converting it to 3D and the heightened prices.
One thing I’m not on the fence about is that I certainly wouldn’t like to see ‘Batman 3′ in 3D and thankfully from what the series cinematographer Wally Pfister says below it looks like that’s not gonna happen. Cinematical caught up with him just before he received the Star Award for his career in cinematography from the Dallas Film Society. He talks briefly about filming in digital, 3D, IMAX and how he and Christopher Nolan decided against filming Nolan’s upcoming Inception in 3D. In other Batman related news, reports are that Warners Bros will be announcing more about ‘Batman 3′ in July
can’t wait.
“I did it [IMAX] for one shot of The Dark Knight because he said, you have to say you did it, and literally I had this strapped to my shoulder and I was carrying it. But I think Chris is game for doing something interesting like that, Lord knows that the 3-D fad might pass by the time that summer comes around.”
“But I know one thing about the film that Chris is adamant about is that he wants to shoot on film,” Pfister said. “He doesn’t want to shoot on video, and I’m the same way.”
