THR bring word that Idris Elba and Sam Worthington will team up with Noomi Rapace in ‘Alive Alone,’ a New York-set thriller marking the directorial debut of Khurram Longi. Elba will star as Jamal, an ex-detainee of Guantanamo Bay working as a taxi driver, and Rapace will play Sarah, a prostitute on the run from a feared crime boss. When their worlds collide, they unexpectedly find salvation in each other. Worthington will play the crime boss Murphy. Thunder Road Pictures will make the movie which is being touted to buyers during the European Film Market by Protagonist Pictures. ‘Alive Alone’ shoots next month.

Sam Worthington recently signed up to reprise his role in all three of the upcoming ‘Avatar’ sequels. Michael R. Roskam’s ‘The Drop’ (Animal Rescue) Set For September – Starring Tom Hardy, Noomi Rapace, James Gandolfini…
Fox Searchlight has announced that Michael R. Roskam’s (Bullhead) ‘The Drop’ has been set for a September 19th release date. The film, formerly known as ‘Animal Rescue,’ stars Tom Hardy, Noomi Rapace, Matthias Schoenaerts, James Gandolfini, John Ortiz and James Frecheville.
‘The Drop’ focuses on a man (Tom Hardy) who wants to shed his criminal path but somehow gets mixed up in a bad heist and a killing resulting from a lost and contested pit bull. Rapace will play Nadia, a woman who crosses paths with the protagonist when he finds a wounded puppy outside her home. Author Dennis Lehane adapted the film from his own short story that first appeared in ‘Boston Noir.’ Previous Lehane movie adaptations include ‘Mystic River,’ ‘Shutter Island’ and ‘Gone Baby Gone.’ Expect more details about ‘The Drop’ shortly.

Speaking to Yahoo!, Michael Fassbender spoke on the development of the sequel to last year’s sci-fi blockbuster, ‘Prometheus.’ Asked what the hold-up was in returning to ‘Prometheus,’ Fassbender said, “Everybody’s asking this, it’s cool! You know, it takes time…. I don’t want them to rush it. I mean the reason that Pixar movies are so amazing is because they spend years throwing it out the window, re-jigging it, coming up with an idea, breaking it down, starting again, you know.”
“So to make it correctly, I think it’s actually very encouraging. Because a lot of the times they’re like ‘we made some money let’s jump on the back of this. We wanna make more money again as soon as possible.’ [But] it’s nice to actually have a little bit of time to develop it.”
THR bring word that Noomi Rapace has signed on to star in ‘What Happened to Monday?’, an indie sci-fi drama from Tommy Wirkola, the writer-director of ‘Dead Snow’ and ‘Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters.’ Following a script by Max Botkin, ‘What Happened to Monday?’ will see Rapace play the multiple roles of septuplet sisters who struggle to stay hidden in an overpopulated world were a one-child policy outlaws siblings. The seven must overcome their own differences and avoid government execution in order to solve the disappearance of one of their own.
The lead was originally written for a male actor but was rewritten when Noomi Rapace met with Tommy Wirkola. ”Although the role was originally written for a male, I was struck by the complexities of having an actor portray seven characters and immediately knew Noomi was the ideal actor — male or female — to bring them to life,” said Wirkola in a statement. Rapace will next be seen starring in the police thriller ‘Child 44′ as well as ’Animal Rescue,’ both opposite Tom Hardy. Wirkola is in post on the sequel to ‘Dead Snow,’ ‘Dead Snow: Red vs. Dead.’
