Marvel Assemble The Avengers For the First Time At Comic Con – Robert Downey Jnr, Samuel L Jackson, Chris Evans & More
Jul 25th
Well hit me over the head with a drumstick and call me Mr cool, I could have bet my whole existence that this was going to happen. To be fair as ‘surprises’ go it’s a pretty awesome one , at Comic Con after Marvel showcased their upcoming Captain America and Thor movies, Kevin Feige (Marvel Studies President) brought the entire crew of The Avengers on stage (bar Don Cheadle), marking the first time we could see Robert Downey Jr., Clark Gregg, Scarlett Johansson, Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Samuel L. Jackson, Jeremy Renner, Mark Ruffalo and Director Joss Whedon assembled together in one room. This also confirms that Joss Whedon IS directing, Jeremy Renner has been signed on to play Hawkeye and that Mark Ruffalo has replaced Ed Norton as Bruce Banner/The Hulk. I’m still slightly soured on this film due to the dismissal of Ed Norton, I guess we’ll have to wait and see. I’m sure geekgasm’s are ensuing!! The Avengers hits theaters May 4, 2012.
First Look At A Dangerous Method With Viggo Mortensen & Michael Fassbender
Jul 6th
David Cronenberg and Viggo Mortensen are teaming up for the third time with their upcoming film ‘A Dangerous Method’. If this is even half as good as their previous collaborations – A History of Violence and Eastern Promises – we’re in for a treat! Austrian/German newspapers TT and Heute have got their hands on the first photos from the film. A Dangerous Method is based on “The Talking Cure” play by Christopher Hampton. The film chronicles the intense relationship between Sigmund Freud (Viggo Mortensen) and his student Carl Jung (Michael Fassbender), and how it gave birth to competing theories of psychoanalysis. A Dangerous Method began filming in May for a ten week shoot in Vienna, Zurich and Munich. It is set to hit cinemas next year, possibly in time for awards season. I can’t wait!
First Images From The Rum Diary – Starring Johnny Depp & Aaron Eckhart
Jun 18th
Johnny Depp has not aged a day, I’ve come to the conclusion he’s either using the ‘brotox’, or more likely he’s sold his soul to the devil for everlasting youth. The Rum Diary is an upcoming film based on the novel of the same name by Hunter S. Thompson. The film is directed by Bruce Robinson and stars Depp, Aaron Eckhart, Giovanni Ribisi and Amber Heard. Johnny Depp play’s ‘Paul Kemp a freelance journalist who finds himself at a critical turning point in his life while writing for a run-down newspaper in the Caribbean. Paul is challenged on many levels as he tries to carve out a more secure niche for himself amidst a group of lost souls all bent on self-destruction. ‘ The Rum Diary is set for release this September.
First Official Image & Trailer From The Smurfs Movie (Edit)
Jun 16th
Michael Bay sodomized my memories of Transformers, I really hope director Raja Gosnell doesn’t do the same with The Smurfs, I used to love the cartoon! The image above features our first look at the computer generated Smurfs: Grouchy, Papa and Clumsy, in Times Square New York City. Look out for the trailer on Thursday. Check out the teaser trailer below
USA Today reveals how the film begins: The opening starts off in the Middle Ages, Gargamel discovers the Smurfs’ magical village and scatters them into the woods. Clumsy goes the wrong way into a forbidden grotto where a few other Smurfs follow, and because it’s a blue moon, there’s a magical portal that transports them to Central Park. Yeah, doesn’t make much sense… And instead of trying to eat the Smurfs, the movie Gargamel “simply wants to capture the Smurfs to serve as charms, whose mystical essence will make his inept magic more powerful — and dangerous.” The Smurfs is directed by Raja Gosnell and has a voice cast which includes Neil Patrick Harris, Jayma Mays, Jonathan Winters, Katy Perry, Hank Azaria, Alan Cumming, George Lopez, Jeff Foxworthy and Paul Reubens.
