Iconic Apple & Pixar Co-Founder Steve Jobs Passes Away
Oct 6th
It is with great sadness to report that Apple co-founder, Pixar co-founder, entrepreneur, inventor, visionary, philanthropist and family man, Steven Jobs, has died today from pancreatic cancer aged 56. Apple has invited everyone to send their thoughts, memories, and condolences to rememberingsteve@apple.com. They have also released the following message: “Apple has lost a visionary and creative genius, and the world has lost an amazing human being. Those of us who have been fortunate enough to know and work with Steve have lost a dear friend and inspiring mentor. Steve leaves the company that only he could have built, and his spirit will forever be the foundation of Apple.”
Along with with his abundant accomplishments at Apple, Steve Jobs served as chief executive of Pixar, is Disney’s largest individual shareholder, and became a member of the board of directors of The Walt Disney Company in 2006. Disney CEO/president Bob Iger released the following statement: “Steve Jobs was a great friend as well as a trusted advisor. His legacy will extend far beyond the products he created or the businesses he built. It will be the millions of people he inspired, the lives he changed, and the culture he defined. Steve was such an ‘original,’ with a thoroughly creative, imaginative mind that defined an era. Despite all he accomplished, it feels like he was just getting started. With his passing the world has lost a rare original, Disney has lost a member of our family, and I have lost a great friend. Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife Laurene and his children during this difficult time.” Acclaimed director Steven Spielberg added: “Steve Jobs was the greatest inventor since Thomas Edison. He put the world at our fingertips.”
The products Steve Jobs has overseen have changed the way movies are made and seen, the way music is created and heard, the way we interact with each other. Here’s to an uncompromising, innovative and passionate life. Rest in peace Steve Jobs.
Second Image From Disney•Pixar’s ‘Brave’
Jul 1st
This second image has found its way online from Disney•Pixar’s ‘Brave,’ eliciting the films original title, ‘The Bear and the Bow,’ with Princess Merida ready to strike with her bow and a teasing glance at a bears paw. I really believe that we’ll be in for a treat with this film, I love the idea of Pixar doing a fairy tale! The voice cast assembled features Kelly Macdonald (“No Country for Old Men,” “Boardwalk Empire”), Emma Thompson (“Sense and Sensibility,” “Love Actually”), Kevin McKidd (“Trainspotting,” “Dog Soldiers”), Julie Walters (“Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone,” “Gnomeo & Juliet”), Bill Connelly (“The Boondock Saints,” “Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events”), Craig Ferguson (“Saving Grace,” “Doc Martin”) and Robbie Coltrane (“Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone,” “The World Is Not Enough”). ‘Brave’ hits cinemas June 22nd 2012 – I’m there!
’Brave’ is set in the mystical Scottish Highlands, where Merida is the princess of a kingdom ruled by King Fergus (Connolly) and Queen Elinor (Thompson). An unruly daughter and an accomplished archer, Merida (Macdonald) one day defies a sacred custom of the land and inadvertently brings turmoil to the kingdom. In an attempt to set things right, Merida seeks out an eccentric old Wise Woman (Walters) and is granted an ill-fated wish. Also figuring into Merida’s quest – and serving as comic relief – are the kingdom’s three lords: the enormous Lord MacGuffin (McKidd), the surly Lord Macintosh (Ferguson), and the disagreeable Lord Dingwall (Coltrane).

John Lasseter Interview For ‘Cars 2′
Jun 26th
Not only an animator, producer, writer and chief creative officer at Pixar and Walt Disney Animation Studios, John Lasseter has directed some of cinemas best loved animated movies in Toy Story, Toy Story 2, A Bugs Life, Cars and now Cars 2. His latest follows star racecar Lightning McQueen and the incomparable tow truck Mater as they take their friendship to exciting new places when they head overseas to compete in the first-ever World Grand Prix to determine the world’s fastest car. But the road to the championship is filled with plenty of potholes, detours and hilarious surprises when Mater gets caught up in an intriguing adventure of his own: international espionage. Torn between assisting Lightning McQueen in the high-profile race and towing the line in a top-secret spy mission, Mater’s action-packed journey leads him on an explosive chase through the streets of Japan and Europe, trailed by his friends and watched by the whole world. Adding to the fast-paced fun is a colourful new all-car cast that includes secret agents, menacing villains and international racing competitors. ‘Cars 2′ is out now in the US and comes to UK cinemas July 22nd. Check out what John Lasseter had to say about the film below.
How did the idea of the globetrotting and Spy elements of Cars 2 come about?
John Lasseter: For Cars 2 the spy movie came out of a scene that took place in the Drive-in movie theatre in Cars 1. That scene shifted, but we had developed a movie within a movie, a spy movie. I love spy movies, that’s when we first came up with the idea of Finn McMissle. I always thought it would be really cool because in our world the spy and the spy car are one and the same. Even though that got cut from the first movie I always had that in mind. I thought it would be fun if we had a chance to do a new film.

New Image From Pixar’s ‘Toy Story: Hawaiian Vacation’
Jun 23rd
Disney•Pixar have released this new still from their upcoming six-minute short ‘Toy Story: Hawaiian Vacation,’ which will play in cinemas in front of ‘Cars 2.’ ‘Toy Story: Hawaiian Vacation’ is the first of two Toy Story shorts, the second of which will play with ‘The Muppets,’ which hits cinemas in November. I’m a big fan of both Toy Story and Pixar’s shorts so these are definitely something I’m psyched for! ‘Cars 2′ comes to cinemas June 24th in the US, and July 22nd in the UK.
In celebration of their recent Oscar® win for Best Animated Feature, Woody, Buzz and the rest of the “Toy Story 3” gang head to the big screen again this summer in “Hawaiian Vacation,” a 3D animated short directed by seven-time Academy Award®-winner Gary Rydstrom. “Hawaiian Vacation” will appear exclusively with the upcoming “Cars 2” theatrical release, which races into U.K. cinemas on July 22, 2011, and will be presented in Disney Digital 3D™ and IMAX® 3D in select cinemas. John Lasseter returns to the driver’s seat to direct the follow-up to his 2006 Golden-Globe®-winning “Cars.”
Set in new owner Bonnie’s bedroom, “Hawaiian Vacation” features Woody (voice of Tom Hanks) and Buzz (voice of Tim Allen) and the rest of the favorite “Toy Story 3” toys as they create the ultimate Hawaiian vacation for Ken (voice of Michael Keaton) and Barbie (voice of Jodi Benson). It seems Ken badly miscalculated their travel arrangements, so the gang has to create a dream getaway in Bonnie’s Midwestern bedroom—in the middle of winter. “Hawaiian Vacation” also features the voices of Joan Cusack, Wallace Shawn, Don Rickles, Estelle Harris, Blake Clark, Bonnie Hunt, Timothy Dalton, Kristen Schaal, Jeff Garlin and John Ratzenberger.
