Extended ‘Black Gold’ Clip – Starring Tahar Rahim, Antonio Banderas, Mark Strong & Frieda Pinto
Feb 21st
The good folks over at Warner Bros have just released this extended clip (running in at just under 5 minutes) for Jean-Jacques Annaud’s upcoming drama ‘Black Gold.’ Starring Tahar Rahim, Antonio Banderas, Mark Strong, Frieda Pinto, Riz Ahmed, Eriq Ebouaney and Corey Johnson, the film centers on a young Arab prince torn between allegiance to his conservative father and modern, liberal father-in-law as well as the rivalry between two Emirs in Arabia. ‘Black Gold’ will use Hans R. Ruesch’s 1957 novel “South Of The Heart: A Novel Of Modern Arabia” as a launching pad for the story that revolves around the rivalry between Arabian rulers in the 1930s just as oil is being discovered, and the rise of a young, dynamic leader who unites the various tribes of the desert kingdoms. ‘Black Gold’ is set for release Febuary 24th in the UK.
Early 20th Century- Arabia. Under the unforgiving desert sky, two warring leaders come face to face. The bodies of their warriors litter the battlefield. The victorious Nesib, Emir of Hobeika (ANTONIO BANDERAS), lays down his peace terms to his rival Amar, Sultan of Salmaah (MARK STRONG). The two men agree that neither may lay claim to the area of no man’s land between them called The Yellow Belt. In return and according to the tribal customs of the time, Nesib will “adopt”- or take hostage- Amar’s two boys Saleeh (AKIN GAZI) and Auda (TAHAR RAHIM); a guarantee that neither man can invade the other. Years later, Saleeh and Auda have grown into young men. Saleeh, the warrior, itches to escape his gilded cage and return to his father’s land. Auda cares only for books and the pursuit of knowledge. One day, their adopted father Nesib is visited by an American oil man from Texas (COREY JOHNSON). He tells the Emir that his land is blessed with oil and promises him riches beyond his imagination.

Feb 20th
CBM has scanned this new image (from the latest issue of Empire Magazine) of Chris Evans as Captain America, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, and Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow in Marvel’s ‘The Avengers.’ I’ve got high hopes for ‘The Avengers,’ I thoroughly enjoyed the recently released extended TV spot for the film, especially the last shot circling the Avengers team and Hulk – good stuff! Directed by Joss Whedon, ‘The Avengers’ stars Chris Evans (Captain America/Steve Rogers), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye/Clint Barton), Mark Ruffalo (Bruce Banner/Hulk), Robert Downey Jr (Iron Man/Tony Stark), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury), Scarlett Johansson (Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow), and Tom Hiddleston (Loki). The likes of Cobie Smulders, Clark Gregg, and Stellen Skarsgard co-star. ‘The Avengers’ is released in cinemas April 27th in the UK, and May 4th in the US. Marvel’s current release slate is ‘The Avengers’ this summer, ‘Iron Man 3′ May 2013, ‘Thor 2′ November 2013, ‘Untitled Marvel 1′ April 2014, and ‘Untitled Marvel 2′ May 2014. Fingers crossed ‘The Avengers’ lives up to the hype!
Continuing the epic big-screen adventures started in “Iron Man,” “The Incredible Hulk,” “Iron Man 2,” “Thor,” and “Captain America: The First Avenger,” “Marvel’s The Avengers” is the super hero team up of a lifetime. When an unexpected enemy emerges that threatens global safety and security, Nick Fury, director of the international peacekeeping agency known as S.H.I.E.L.D., finds himself in need of a team to pull the world back from the brink of disaster.
Based on the ever-popular Marvel comic book series, first published in 1963, “Marvel’s The Avengers” brings together the mightiest super hero characters as they all assemble together on screen for the first time. The star studded cast of super heroes will be joined by Cobie Smulders (“How I Met Your Mother) as Agent Maria Hill of S.H.I.E.L.D., as well as Tom Hiddleston (“Wallander”) and Stellan Skarsgård (“Angels & Demons,” “Mamma Mia!”) who will both reprise their respective roles as Loki and Professor Erik Selvig from the upcoming Marvel Studios’ feature “Thor.”

Sony Pictures has premiered, via MarkoftheSpiderMan, this humorously awkward debut clip from Marc Webb’s much anticipated ‘The Amazing Spider-Man.’ Based on the Marvel Comic Book by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, the ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ will be swinging onto the big screen July 3rd in the US, and July 4th in the UK. The 3D action adventure film stars Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy; Peter’s high school classmate and love interest, Rhys Ifans as Dr. Curt Conners/The Lizard, Denis Leary as George Stacy; Gwen’s father and a New York City Police Department captain, Campbell Scott as Richard Parker, Chris Zylka as Flash Thompson, Irrfan Khan as Dr. Ratha, Martin Sheen as Ben Parker; Peter Parker’s uncle, and Sally Field as May Parker. ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ is directed by Marc Webb from a screenplay by James Vanderbilt, Alvin Sargent and Steve Kloves. My expectations for this film have been steadily rising as more and more footage is released, I’ve got a good feeling about ‘The Amazing Spider-Man.’

Guy Pearce, Maggie Grace & Lens Flare Feature In First Poster For ‘Lockout’
Feb 17th
MTV has unveiled this debut poster for the Guy Pearce and Maggie Grace starring space-set action thriller ‘Lockout.’ Produced by and co-written by Luc Besson (Taken, Leon, the Transporter series) and directed by James Mather and Stephen St. Leger, ‘Lockout’ follows an ex- government agent (Guy Pearce) wrongly convicted of conspiracy to commit espionage against the U.S. This man is offered his freedom if he can rescue the president’s daughter (Maggie Grace) from an outer space prison taken over by violent inmates. I’ve got soft spot for these type of films, look out for ‘Lockout,’ or ‘MS One: Maximum Security’ as it’s known internationally, on April 20th….I’m there!
Starring Guy Pearce and Maggie Grace and set in the near future, ‘Lockout’ follows a falsely convicted ex- government agent (Pearce), whose one chance at obtaining freedom lies in the dangerous mission of rescuing the President’s daughter (Grace) from rioting convicts at an outer space maximum security prison.
