Red Band Trailer For Kim Ji-Woon’s Revenge-Thriller ‘I Saw the Devil’ – Starring Lee Byung-hun & Choi Min-sik
Feb 16th
IGN have delivered this deeply sinister Red Band trailer for Kim Ji-woon‘s (The Good, the Bad, the Weird, A Bitter Sweet Life) latest film ‘I Saw the Devil.’ I’ve been anticipating this film for a while now, I’m a massive fan of Ji-woon, ‘A Bitter Sweet Life’ is undoubtedly one of my favourite films of the last decade. Be warned though, ‘I Saw The Devil’ has caused controversy in South Korea due to the level of violence depicted in the flick, it look’s brutal, definitely not one for the faint of heart! ‘I Saw The Devil’ is set for release March 4th in the US. Not sure of a UK release date at the moment.
A remorseless psychopath stalks deserted roads looking for women to rape and slaughter. But when he murders the pregnant fiancée of a secret-service agent, the tables turn, and the stalker becomes the prey as the grief-stricken agent pursues a gruesome revenge. Soo-hyun hunts down the killer but does not turn him over to the authorities. Instead, he exacts a punishment designed to make the psycho truly suffer. The sadistic mayhem escalates as the pair enact a gory cat-and-mouse game that quickly spirals out of control.
As excellently crafted as it is blood soaked, Kim Jee-woon’s hard-edged revenge thriller leaves an indelible mark on its audience. The brutality and unrelenting violence of I Saw the Devil is only half as jarring as its unflinching portrait of the dark side of human nature.
Second Poster For Joe Wright’s ‘Hanna’ – Starring Saoirse Ronan, Eric Bana & Cate Blanchett
Feb 16th
Focus Features have released this new poster for Joe Wright’s upcoming assassin flick ‘Hanna.’ I’ve been intrigued by this movie, the trailer looked as mad as a bottle of chips……never a bad thing for me! The film has assembled a strong cast in Saoirse Ronan, Eric Bana, Olivia Williams and Cate Blanchett. ‘Hanna’ looks like a real departure from Wright’s previous movies (Atonement, Pride and Prejudice). Also the the fact that The Chemical Brothers are on score duty gives even me more reason to be excited. ‘Hanna’ is set to hit cinemas April 8th, 2011.
Hanna (Ronan) is a teenage girl. Uniquely, she has the strength, the stamina, and the smarts of a solider; these come from being raised by her father (Bana), an ex-CIA man, in the wilds of Sweden. Living a life unlike any other teenager, her upbringing and training have been one and the same, all geared to making her the perfect assassin. The turning point in her adolescence is a sharp one; sent into the world by her father on a mission, Hanna journeys stealthily across Europe while eluding agents dispatched after her by a ruthless intelligence operative with secrets of her own (Blanchett). As she nears her ultimate target, Hanna faces startling revelations about her existence and unexpected questions about her humanity.
Michael Fassbender Talks About Portraying Magneto In ‘X-Men: First Class’
Feb 15th

Michael Fassbender, who portrays Erik Lensherr/Magneto in Matthew Vaughn’s (Kick Ass, Layer Cake) upcoming ‘X-Men: First Class‘, recently spoke to Metro New York about his role in the film. He speaks on the friendship Magneto and James McAvoy’s Professor Xavier share, and how it crumbles over time:
“It’s kind of like Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X – Charles [Professor X] being Martin Luther and Erik [Magneto] being Malcolm X – these two ideals, two intelligent guys but with different methods of achieving what they want. Erik doesn’t trust humans and thinks they need to be wiped away and I can kind of see his point. It’s like Homo Sapiens, Neanderthals … it’s like it’s the next stage of evolution.”
Fassbender also talked about Magneto’s past, which is touched upon in ‘X-Men: First Class:’
“You will see a little bit of that, yeah, at the beginning but I thought what was interesting was what happened to him after the war – he gets that young gypsy girl out of the concentration camp that he falls in love with. They take off together and have a baby and the mob ends up going crazy and burning down the house and the child dies in the blaze. Magneto goes ape shit and kills everybody. She’s freaked out and leaves him. So by the time we get to him in the movie, he’s a bit of a loner, really.”
I’m stoked for this film, I thought the trailer was F A N T A S T I C! From what I’ve seen Fassbender looks like he’ll steal the show. ‘X-Men: First Class’ is set for release June 3rd 2011. Check out the full interview here.
First Poster For ‘Arthur’ – Starring Russell Brand, Helen Mirren & Jennifer Garner
Feb 15th
The good folks over at Warner Bros have unveiled this debut poster for the upcoming comedy ‘Arthur.’ The film is a re-imagining of the classic Dudley Moore romantic comedy of the same name. The trailer gave me a few chuckles, hopefully we’re in for a treat. The film stars Russell Brand, Helen Mirren, Greta Gerwig, Jennifer Garner, Nick Nolte, and Luis Guzman. ‘Arthur’ is set for release April 8th in the US, and April 22nd in the UK.
Irresponsible charmer Arthur Bach (Russell Brand) has always relied on two things to get by: his limitless fortune and the good sense of lifelong nanny Hobson (Helen Mirren) to keep him out of trouble. Now he faces his biggest challenge–choosing between an arranged marriage that will ensure his lavish lifestyle or an uncertain future with the one thing money can’t buy, Naomi (Greta Gerwig), the only woman he has ever loved. With Naomi’s inspiration and some unconventional help from Hobson, Arthur will take the most expensive risk of his life and finally learn what it means to become a man, in this re-imagining of the classic romantic comedy “Arthur.”
Debut Poster For Robert Redford’s ‘The Conspirator’ – Starring James McAvoy & Robin Wright
Feb 15th
The American Film Company have released this debut poster for Robert Redford’s upcoming Civil War-set, historical drama ‘The Conspirator.’ The film tells the story of the aftermath of Abraham Lincoln’s assassination at the hands of John Wilkes Booth – portrayed by the always brilliant Toby Kebbell.
The film boasts a cast chock-full with talent, that includes the likes of James McAvoy, Robin Wright, Alexis Bledel, Tom Wilkinson, Kevin Kline, Evan Rachel Wood, Danny Huston, Justin Long, Johnny Simmons, James Badge Dale and Stephen Root. I’ve keeping my eye on this flick, I wasn’t a huge fan of Robert Redford’s last two films however – The Legend Of Bagger Vance and Lions For Lambs. Fingers crossed this is a return to form.
