‘Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters’ Pushed Back To January 11th 2013
Jan 10th
Seeing as the film was originally under two months away from release and up until now we hadn’t yet seen a trailer, poster, clip, pretty much zilch other than the above image. It can come as little surprise that Paramount Pictures has rescheduled ‘Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters’ from March 2nd of this year to January 11th, 2013. As of now we don’t know why Paramount has decided to push the movie back, however I’m sure we’ll be hearing details regarding the scheduling change sometime over the next few weeks.
The re-imagined fairy tale flick stars Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton as the titular characters. It is said to be a dark action movie that picks up with the fairy tale siblings years after the traumatic childhood incident has turned them into bounty hunters. Tommy Wirkola (Dead Snow) directs while Peter Stormare, Famke Janssen, Peter Stormare, Zoe Bell, and Derek Mears co-star.
In a recent interview Gemma Arterton shed some light on how the film incorporates the original Brothers Grimm tale: ”It continues it. You see a series of flashbacks with their experience of killing that first witch, which is brilliant. I remember being on set for the final few days of that. The candy house, and the witches are really repulsive and quite frightening. The makeup is out of this world. It’s this bone-chilling scene. Very dark. The girl who plays my character is brilliant, with the horrified expression she has.”
Jamie Bell Interview For ‘Man on a Ledge’
Jan 8th
An ex-cop and now wanted fugitive (Sam Worthington) stands on the ledge of a high-rise building while a hard-living NYPD negotiator (Elizabeth Banks) tries to talk him down. The longer they are on the ledge, the more she realizes that he might have an ulterior objective. Directed by Asger Leth (Ghosts of Cité Soleil), ‘Man on a Ledge’ stars Sam Worthington, Elizabeth Banks, Jamie Bell, Anthony Mackie, Ed Burns, Titus Welliver, Genesis Rodriguez, Kyra Sedgwick, and Ed Harris. The film is set for release January 27th in the US, and Febuary 3rd in the UK. Look out for a more in-depth interview with Jamie Bell and the rest of the cast closer to the films release date.
Your character and Genesis Rodriguez’s character add a lot of layers to the tension and suspense in the story.
Jamie Bell: Yeah. Joey, he’s the brother of Sam Worthington’s character. He’s a guy who has kind of dedicated his life to helping his brother, that’s the first and foremost thing in his mind. It’s the motivation for this relationship he has with this girl, his family life, his academic life….whatever it is, it has been completely consumed by his brother and what he needs to do for his brother. He’s referred to as a little bit of a screw-up, someone who necessarily isn’t all together. He’s a guy with some loose ends (laughs), lets say that.
His relationship with Angie, they have a very frenetic relationship. I believe it is grounded in love and admiration for one another. But they go on this heist to prove Nick’s innocence basically, and some of their flurries of relationship trauma kinda comes out at the wrong times (laughs), in the wrong moments. Joey’s a great character to play, he’s certainly a lot of fun. For me and Genesis Rodriguez, who plays Angie, it’s really the suspense, the fun and the action of the film that happens once Nick is on the ledge. The physical stuff was fun, it provides a relief from the very intense story stuff that’s happening with Nick.
7 Clips From ‘Man on a Ledge’ – Starring Sam Worthington, Elizabeth Banks & Anthony Mackie
Jan 7th
Summit Entertainment has unveiled these seven new clips from Asger Leth’s (Ghosts of Cité Soleil) upcoming heist flick ’Man on a Ledge.’ The film centers on an ex-cop (Sam Worthington) convicted of a crime he didn’t commit who stands on the ledge of a Manhattan building, threatening to kill himself. However, unbeknownst to the cops on the scene, what appears to be a suicide attempt is in fact a cover for a massive diamond heist. Worthington is joined by Elizabeth Banks as a hard-living New York Police Department hostage negotiator, Anthony Mackie as Worthington’s best friend and ally, and Jamie Bell as Worthington’s younger brother and ardent supporter. Edward Burns, Ed Harris, Kyra Sedgwick and Titus Welliver co-star. ’Man on a Ledge’ is set for release January 13th in the US, and January 25th in the UK.
Nick Cassidy (Sam Worthington) was an honest cop. Now he’s in prison for a crime he didn’t commit. Desperate, he seizes the first chance to escape. Hours later, he is freshly shaven in an expensive suit, standing on a window ledge high above New York City. As a crowd gathers below, police cordon off the area and agree to Nick’s request to speak with pretty police negotiator Lydia Anderson (Elizabeth Banks). But Lydia doesn’t know that she is part of his grand plan, a plan that could give them both a second chance.
Rian Johnson Reveals The Time Machine In ‘Looper’ – Starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Bruce Willis & Emily Blunt
Jan 3rd
Writer/director Rian Johnson has debuted this first look at the time machine in his highly anticipated sci-fi assassin flick ‘Looper’ via the films Tumblr account. ’Looper’ features a stellar cast in Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Bruce Willis, Emily Blunt, Paul Dano, Xu Qing and Jeff Daniels, the story revolves around hitmen (“loopers”) who use time-travel to cover the tracks of their murders. I’ve got high hopes for this film, I was a massive fan of Johnson’s previous two films ‘Brick’ and ‘The Brothers Bloom.’ ’Looper’ is set to be released by Sony’s TriStar Pictures division on September 28th, 2012.
Set in the near future, when time-travel is possible but very, very illegal, Looper stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt, reteaming with his Brick director, as Joe, a sharp, savvy hitma. But Joe is no ordinary hitman. The hooded, bound victims he kills are sent back in time from 30 years in the future: he shoots them with a blunderbuss, burns the bodies, and all trace of the crime disappears. Life is pretty good for Joe, until one day a body arrives without a hood: it’s his future self, played by Willis. And he’s not going down without a fight…
UPDATED: Peter Weller To Join The Cast Of J.J.Abrams’ ‘Star Trek 2′ – Benicio Del Toro Drops Out?
Dec 5th
Variety bring word that Peter Weller, best known for playing RoboCop in the 1987 film and its sequel, has been cast in J.J. Abrams’ upcoming Star Trek sequel. Weller would reportedly join Benicio del Toro as the lead villain, and Alice Eve as a character that’s believed to be new to the canon. UPDATED: Vulture are reporting that Benicio Del Toro, who entered into talks last month to play the sequel’s new villain, has dropped out of the sequel. Insiders tell Vulture that the deal actually went asunder last Wednesday after parties couldn’t come to terms over monetary issues.
“J.J. Abrams has tapped veteran thesp Peter Weller for the ensemble cast of Paramount’s upcoming “Star Trek” sequel. Specifics of Weller’s role are under wraps. His selection came on the heels of Abrams choosing Alice Eve as a character that’s believed to be new.”
Filming for the tentatively titled ‘Star Trek 2′ is scheduled to begin early 2012. Chris Pine, Zach Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Anton Yelchin, Simon Pegg, Karl Urban and John Cho are set to star. Expect more casting additions and details for the film in the coming weeks. J.J. Alive Eve To Join J.J.Abrams’ ‘Star Trek 2′
Nov 30th
Closely following last weeks news that J.J.Abrams’ ‘Star Trek 2′ has been scheduled in for a May 17th 2013 release date, Variety report that Alice Eve is set to join the ensemble cast – playing a character that’s believed to be new to the canon. Apparently Teresa Palmer (“I Am Number Four”) and Hayley Atwell (“Captain America: The First Avenger”) also tested for the role, but Eve (“She’s Out of My League”) won out.
Variety also reveal that Benicio del Toro’s deal to play the lead villain is still pending. If del Toro and Eve do in fact put pen to paper, Abrams has just one more major role left to cast; sources say it could be another villain, someone who’s older and in more of a supporting character to del Toro.
