Joss Whedon Gives His Thoughts On The Upcoming Buffy The Vampire Slayer Reboot
Nov 23rd
Following on from the news that Buffy The Vampire Slayer would be getting a remake without Joss Whedon’s involvement *rolls eyes, then slowly lowers head into a facepalm*, E! got in contact with Whedon – the creator, writer, director and executive producer of the franchise to give his feelings on the project. The original 1992 movie was remade into the hugely popular TV series, which ran from 1997 to 2003. Whedon is also the man behind Angel, Firefly, Serenity and the upcoming ‘The Avengers‘ movie:
Kristin, I’m glad you asked for my thoughts on the announcement of Buffy the cinema film. This is a sad, sad reflection on our times, when people must feed off the carcasses of beloved stories from their youths—just because they can’t think of an original idea of their own, like I did with my Avengers idea that I made up myself.
Obviously I have strong, mixed emotions about something like this. My first reaction upon hearing who was writing it was, “Whit Stillman AND Wes Anderson? This is gonna be the most sardonically adorable movie EVER.” Apparently I was misinformed. Then I thought, “I’ll make a mint! This is worth more than all my Toy Story residuals combined!” Apparently I am seldom informed of anything. And possibly a little slow. But seriously, are vampires even popular any more?
I always hoped that Buffy would live on even after my death. But, you know, AFTER. I don’t love the idea of my creation in other hands, but I’m also well aware that many more hands than mine went into making that show what it was. And there is no legal grounds for doing anything other than sighing audibly. I can’t wish people who are passionate about my little myth ill. I can, however, take this time to announce that I’m making a Batman movie. Because there’s a franchise that truly needs updating. So look for The Dark Knight Rises Way Earlier Than That Other One And Also More Cheaply And In Toronto, rebooting into a theater near you.
Leave me to my pain! Sincerely, Joss Whedon.
This. Will. End. Badly….….from reading a tonne of comments online Buffy fans seem to be mightily pissssssssssssseeeeeeeeed.
Official Trailer For ‘The Mechanic’ – Starring Jason Statham & Ben Foster
Nov 16th

In ancient Mesopotamian there is a legend that one day a child will be born from a dragon and vanquish evil from the world. That man is not Jason Statham, because Jason killed that man…..with a spoon and a handkerchief. Moving swiftly on The Mechanic is a remake of the 1972 Charles Bronson flick of the same name and stars Jason Statham, Ben Foster, Donald Sutherland, Jeff Chase, Christa Campbell, Liam Ferguson, Eddie J. Fernandez and J.D. Evermore. Look out for this in cinemas January 28th, 2011.
Arthur Bishop (Jason Statham) is a ‘mechanic’ – an elite assassin with a strict code and unique talent for cleanly eliminating targets. It’s a job that requires professional perfection and total detachment, and Bishop is the best in the business. But when his mentor and close friend Harry (Donald Sutherland) is murdered, Bishop is anything but detached. His next assignment is self-imposed – he wants those responsible dead.
His mission grows complicated when Harry’s son Steve (Ben Foster) approaches him with the same vengeful goal and a determination to learn Bishop’s trade. Bishop has always acted alone but he can’t turn his back on Harry’s son. A methodical hit man takes an impulsive student deep into his world and a deadly partnership is born. But while in pursuit of their ultimate mark, deceptions threaten to surface and those hired to fix problems become problems themselves.

The Mechanic comes to cinemas January 28th, 2011 and stars Statham, Foster, Donald Sutherland, Jeff Chase, Christa Campbell, Liam Ferguson, Eddie J. Fernandez, J.D. Evermore. Look out for the trailer this Wednesday.

Colin Farrell Offered The Lead Role In The Upcoming ‘Total Recall’ Reboot/Remake
Nov 14th
Variety have reported that Colin Farrell has been offered the lead part in Sony Pictures’ Total Recall remake/reboot. The project is said to be a ‘contemporized adaptation’ of the 1990 Arnold Schwarzenegger genre classic, which was based on the Philip K. Dick story, “We Can Remember It for You Wholesale”.
Colin Farrell is a quality actor, this casting news gets my thoroughly unimportant important stamp of approval. Over the last few weeks Farrell had been rumoured to be in the running for the part along with Tom Hardy and Michael Fassbender. Hollywood is excelling at remakes, I’m sure one day they would have rebooted and remade every memorable film from the past three decades, and I’m sure when that day comes they’ll be rebooting the reboots and remaking the remakes…….or even start producing remakequels!
