In the latest issue of Empire Magazine, Chris Evans (aka Steve Rogers/Captain America) opened up about his enthusiasm shooting with his fellow ‘The Avengers’ co-stars suited and booted: “The first time I came on set and saw other people in costume, it was a night-time scene in the woods and it involved myself, Chris Hemsworth and Downey Jr. I had just seen THOR maybe two nights before, so I got on set and I saw Hemsworth in the cape and immediately thought, ‘God, there’s Thor, I’m looking at Thor,’ and then I saw Downey Jr. in the suit.” 

“It’s amazing. The kid in me would say, ‘I didn’t get to act with Robert Downey Jr., I got to act with Iron Man.’ I’d never had that before, where I had seen actors in a film that I was not a part of and then come to work and help them to extend that character’s life. It’s like being a little kid.”

Entertainment Weekly has released this new image of Chris Evans as Captain America/Steve Rogers to accompany an interview with the writer-director of the film, Joss Whedon. The filmmaker revealed that ‘The Avengers’ is mostly seen through Steve Rogers’ perspective: “I set out with a very simple problem: There is no reason for these people to be in the same movie. So that’s what my movie has to be about.  So much of the movie takes place from Steve Rogers’ (Chris Evans) perspective, since he’s the guy who just woke up and sees this weird ass world. Everyone else has been living in it.”

Whedon expanded: “[The Avengers] is very much about people who are alone — because I’m writing it” jokes Whedon.“[Captain America] is kind of the ultimate loner in that way. There is an anachronism to him, and Chris and I have always tried to make it, without making it goofy or too obvious, always tried to make him that same grounded ’40s Steve Rogers he was in the other movie.”

Speaking to The Wall Street Journal, Mark Ruffalo has shed some light on the difference between his incarnation of The Hulk/Bruce Banner in Marvel’s ‘The Avengers’ in comparison to earlier movie versions: “I don’t think Bruce Banner’s any longer trying to run from the inevitable, which is his voice, and that’s a kind of maturation that all of us go through,” Mr. Ruffalo says. “At this point, I think he’s ready to turn and face this beast that he’s partially created and try to integrate it into his life and use it for the good that he intended it to be used for.”

“There’s a lot of world-weary charm in the character,” Mr. Ruffalo says, “a lot of sense of humor about himself and where he finds himself. He has this maturation that I think makes him ready to accept whatever his fate may be.”
