Joseph Gordon-Levitt Talks About Robert Rodriguez’s ‘Sin City: A Dame to Kill For’ & His Character “Johnny”

Out and about on the promotional rounds for his directional debut ‘Don Jon,’ Joseph Gordon-Levitt talked to SuperHeroHype about his work on Robert Rodriguez’s ‘Sin City: A Dame to Kill For.’ Gordon-Levitt shot the movie in Austin, Texas at Rodriguez’s Troublemaker Studios last month. In the film he plays Johnny in a segment called “The Long Bad Night,” which isn’t based on any of Frank Miller’s existing comics. The outlet asked whether Miller actually drew the story as a guideline before they started filming it. Gordon-Levitt said that this wasn’t the case compared to the previous movie. ”It’s interesting. They wanted to have a movie where fans of the books would still be able to look forward to something new and unexpected, so they added a story. I remember being really intrigued by that and I was really looking forward to, ‘Oh that will be so interesting to have the actual comics to refer to as an actor’ but no I didn’t.”
Joseph Gordon-Levitt continued, “I had a ball doing that, I loved doing that. I mean, Robert Rodriguez is a guy whose movies I’ve liked for a long time and he has creativity pouring out of him.” He also told the outlet that while Johnny’s a new character and story, he’s firmly within the world of ‘Sin City’ where other characters are likely to show up. “I saw Bruce and Mickey (Rourke) and I have a scene together, and Jessica (Alba). I was so stoked.”
Bonkers Sofia Vergara Character Poster For Robert Rodriguez’s ‘Machete Kills’

Open Road Films has unleashed this new poster for Robert Rodriguez’s ‘Machete Kills,’ showcasing Sofia Vergara breaking out the big guns! In the sequel, Danny Trejo returns as the titular Machete, joined by Michelle Rodriguez and Jessica Alba reprising their roles from the first film. The story finds Machete recruited by the U.S. government to take down a cartel leader and stop an arms dealer from launching a deadly missile. ’Machete Kills’ arrives in cinemas on September 13th.
‘Machete Kills’ has Mel Gibson on-board as the villainous arms dealer, while Amber Heard, Sofia Vergara, Charlie Sheen, Lady Gaga, Antonio Banderas, Jessica Alba, Demian Bichir, Vanessa Hudgens, Cuba Gooding Jr., William Sadler, Marko Zaror and Alexa Vega round out the newcomers. The sequel will reportedly feature a Grindhouse-style trailer for a third entry in the ‘Machete’ franchise, ‘Machete Kills Again… In Space!’ The official synopsis for ‘Machete Kills’ is as follows: “Danny Trejo returns as ex-Federale agent MACHETE, who is recruited by the President of the United States for a mission which would be impossible for any mortal man – he must take down a madman revolutionary and an eccentric billionaire arms dealer who has hatched a plan to spread war and anarchy across the planet.” Source: IMP.

Talking to MTV at the Academy Awards, Joseph Gordon-Levitt shed some light on his work on ‘Sin City: A Dame to Kill For.’ Revealing that he’s already shot his part, the actor had the following to say about the film and working with Robert Rodriguez, ”Yeah, we shot it already. It went so great. Robert Rodriguez is just a delightful human being. He’s got so much creativity pouring out of him. He’s got a painting studio set up next to where we shoot so that when there’s downtime he encourages people to just go paint. How cool is that? So cool.”

Robert Rodriguez has revealed through his Twitter account this first look at Josh Brolin’s Dwight in ‘Sin City: A Dame to Kill For.’ The filmmaker tweeted the following about the behind-the-scenes image below, “Having a BLAST making this movie. Amazing cast, and they’re all doing fantastic work. Here’s bad ass Josh Brolin driving a Rodriguez-mobile. (A green box with a steering wheel bolted on)” For the above image, Rodriguez added, “And here’s a quick photo touch up I do to set a tone for the actors. (Probably won’t be raining in final movie)”

Variety bring word that Stacy Keach (American History X, The Bourne Legacy, Prison Break) has signed on to portray a chief villain in Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller’s ‘Sin City: A Dame to Kill For.’ Keach will play mob boss Wallenquist, described by Miller as “the one man who can’t be redeemed in Sin City. He is pure evil.”

Eva Green Announced To Play Ava Lord In ‘Sin City: A Dame to Kill For’

Closely following the news that Julia Garner has joined the cast, Dimension Films has just sent word that ‘Sin City: A Dame to Kill For’ co-directors Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller have chosen Eva Green (Dark Shadows, 300: Rise of an Empire, Casino Royale) to star as the film’s deadly muse, Ava Lord. Ava, the iconic character from Miller’s graphic novel of the same name, is described by Miller as “every man’s most glorious dreams come true, she’s also every man’s darkest nightmares.”
Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller said, “We’ve been wanting to tell this story for a very long time. Ava Lord is one of the most deadly and fascinating residents of Sin City. From the start, we knew that the actor would need to be able to embody the multifaceted characteristics of this femme fatale and we found that in Eva Green. We are ecstatic that Eva is joining us.”
