New Fair Game Poster – Starring Naomi Watts & Sean Penn
Aug 27th
Apple – not the round edible fruit but the people who are known for making iPods, Macs and iPads have released a new poster for Doug Liman’s upcoming political drama Fair Game. Fair Game is based on the true story of Valerie Plame, a covert officer in the CIA who is placed in mortal danger when her cover is blown. The film stars Naomi Watts as Plame and Sean Penn as her husband Joe Wilson. I like the look of this movie, it looks like a taut and intelligent thriller. Fair Game is in US cinemas November 5th, not sure of a UK release date at the moment. You can check the trailer out here.
A suspense-filled glimpse into the dark corridors of political power, FAIR GAME is a riveting action-thriller based on the autobiography of real-life undercover CIA operative VALERIE PLAME (Naomi Watts), whose career was destroyed and marriage strained to its limits when her covert identity was exposed by a politically motivated press leak. As a covert officer in the CIA’s Counter-Proliferation Division, Valerie leads an investigation into the existence of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. Valerie’s husband, diplomat JOE WILSON (Sean Penn), is drawn into the investigation to substantiate an alleged sale of enriched uranium from Niger. But when the administration ignores his findings and uses the issue to support the call to war, Joe writes a New York Times editorial outlining his conclusions and ignites a firestorm of controversy. Fair Game will hit theaters on Friday, November 5th, 2010 in limited release.

The movie trailer for Doug Liman’s upcoming political drama Fair Game has been released online via Yahoo. Fair Game is based on the true story of Valerie Plame, a covert officer in the CIA who is placed in mortal danger when her cover is blown. The film stars Naomi Watts as Valerie Plame and Sean Penn as her husband Joe Wilson – I still haven’t forgiven Penn for stealing Mickey Rourke’s comeback Oscar; the swine *waves fist*!!! In all seriousness, I really like the two lead actors, from the trailer this looks pretty decent, I remember reading about Valerie Plame a few years back, it’s disgusting what the Bush government done to this women. Doug Liman is the director behind films such as Swingers, Go, The Bourne Identity, Mr. & Mrs. Smith and Jumper. Fair Game is set for release on November 5th in the US, not sure of a UK date at the moment.

Terrence Malick’s The Tree Of Life Get’s A Rating
Jul 7th

Here’s some great news for you – Terrence Malick’s The Tree Of Life has been officially rated by the MPAA. The film will be rated PG-13 for ‘some thematic material’. To be completely honest I don’t give a monkeys about the rating, I’m just happy someone has officially seen the film. Hope has finally held out its hand that we may will see this in 2010. Malick is quite possibly my favourite director, his films are deeply philosophical, rich and visually stunning. Since his debut film Badlands in 1973, Malick has only made three other films (Days Of Heaven, The Thin Red Line and The New World). I’m supremely confident his fifth will be as amazing, if not more so than his previous work, I don’t usually care for awards but I really hope Malick get’s some love for this. Hopefully we can get some stills and dare I say it a trailer in the next few months. Check out the synopsis below.
Our picture is a cosmic epic, a hymn to life. We trace the evolution of an eleven-year-old boy in the Midwest, Jack, one of three brothers. At first all seems marvelous to the child. He sees as his mother does, with the eyes of his soul. She represents the way of love and mercy, where the father tries to teach his son the world’s way, of putting oneself first. Each parent contends for his allegiance, and Jack must reconcile their claims. The picture darkens as he has his first glimpses of sickness, suffering and death. The world, once a thing of glory, becomes a labyrinth.
Framing this story is that of adult Jack, a lost soul in a modern world, seeking to discover amid the changing scenes of time that which does not change: the eternal scheme of which we are a part. When he sees all that has gone into our world’s preparation, each thing appears a miracle – precious, incomparable. Jack, with his new understanding, is able to forgive his father and take his first steps on the path of life. The story ends in hope, acknowledging the beauty and joy in all things, in the everyday and above all in the family — our first school — the only place that most of us learn the truth about the world and ourselves, or discover life’s single most important lesson, of unselfish love. The Tree Of Life is directed by Terrence Mallick and stars Brad Pitt and Sean Penn.
