UNAIDI’s description for the piece is as follows: “During my childhood, I was excited to read Superman comic books, Superman is a friendly person and often smiling. But since Alex Ross’ art, Superman started to look so serious. So, I draw Superman from the new movie “Man of Steel” with smile.”

Hans Zimmer “Crafting The Score” Featurette For ‘Man Of Steel’

Warner Bros and Legendary Pictures has unveiled this new behind-the-scenes featurette for ‘Man of Steel’ centering on the making of Hans Zimmer’s soundtrack for the film. Zimmer previously worked with Warner, Legendary and DC Comics on Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy: ‘Batman Begins,’ ‘The Dark Knight’ and last summers ‘The Dark Knight Rises.’ Zimmer also worked with Nolan, who’s co-producing ‘Man of Steel,’ on ‘Inception,’ for which he received an Oscar nomination. To date the composer has been nominated for nine Oscars and previously won for Disney’s ‘The Lion King.’ ‘Man of Steel’ marks the first Zack Snyder-directed film on which the helmer hasn’t worked with composer Tyler Bates, who scored ‘Dawn of the Dead,’ ’300,’ ‘Watchmen’ and ‘Sucker Punch.’

The Zack Snyder-directed Superman reboot, ‘Man Of Steel,’ has debuted to $113.1 million at the US box office to score the top opening weekend of all time for June in North America. Including the $12 million grossed Thursday night from special screenings, the film’s opening clocked in at a whopping $125.1 million. ’Man of Steel’ eclipsed the previous June record-holder, ‘Toy Story 3,’ which debuted to $110.3 million in June 2010. The event pic, costing a hefty $225 million to produce, received a fantastic ‘A’ CinemaScore, which should mean that it has staying power at the box office. ‘Man of Steel’ grossed $13.3 million in IMAX theaters, and 41% of its business came from 3D ticket sales. This weekend, the movie opened in 24 international markets, but returns were not yet available. It is projected that ‘Man of Steel’ will make $200 million at the box office worldwide this weekend. UPDATE: the opening international box office gross for ‘Man of Steel’ has been recorded at $71.6 million, for a worldwide debut of $196.7 million.

After a phenomenal Thursday night of $21 million at the US box office, including $12 million from Thursday 7pm screenings and $9 million from midnights, the Superman tentpole ‘Man of Steel’ soared to $44.1 million on Friday (including those $9 million midnights) and has already reached $56.1 million total at the US box office. According to reports, ‘Man of Steel’ is on course for a North American debut in the $122 million to $125 million range – colossal numbers! The Zack Snyder-directed film should easily race past the $200 million mark globally by the end of the weekend. The event pic, costing a hefty $225 million to produce, received an excellent ‘A’ CinemaScore, which should mean that it has staying power at the box office.
David S. Goyer penned the ‘Man of Steel’ script based on a story he crafted with Christopher Nolan. Warner Bros and Legendary Pictures turned to Nolan as a producer on the project after he successfully revived the Batman franchise with his Dark Knight trilogy. Internationally, ’Man of Steel’ is opening day-and-date in 24 markets, landing first in the Philippines and Taiwan on Wednesday, where it earned $1.7 million and $794,742, respectively. It was the largest opening day ever in the Philippines and the largest Warner Bros opening in Taiwan. Among other major markets, it opened in the UK and Mexico on Friday. The following weekend, the tentpole opens in 26 additional markets, including China, France, Germany, Italy, Russia and Spain.
