Summit Entertainment and Emmett/Furla Films has just announced that Arnold Schwarzenegger will star opposite Sylvester Stallone in the action-thriller ‘The Tomb,’ which will be directed by Swedish filmmaker Mikael Håfström (1408, The Rite). ’The Tomb’ follows Ray Breslin (Stallone) who is the world’s foremost authority on structural security. He’s analyzed every high security prison and has gained a vast array of survival skills. But all Ray’s ingenuity and knowledge are about to be put to work in the most challenging test he’s ever faced: escaping from the master prison of his own design. Schwarzenegger, in the role of Church, plays a complex inmate with multiple shades of grey. He’s the guy who fights to keep the prisoners from losing their humanity in their darkest hour as they struggle together to stay alive. The film will start filming in Louisiana, US this spring.

Schwarzenegger and Stallone will next be seen on screen together in ‘The Expendables 2,’ which is currently in post-production and will be released this summer by Lionsgate. Schwarzenegger just wrapped filming Jee-woon Kim’s ’The Last Stand.’ An Emmett-Furla Films/Mark Canton production, ‘The Tomb’ is produced by Atmosphere Entertainment chairman Mark Canton (300, Immortals), Randall Emmett (Lay the Favorte, Rambo), George Furla (Lay the Favorite, Rambo), Robbie Brenner (Machine Gun Preacher, A Perfect Getaway), and Kevin King-Templeton (The Expendables, Rambo, Rocky Balboa). Emmett/Furla Films is financing the project. Summit holds worldwide distribution rights to ‘The Tomb’ and will release the film in North America.

Following Chuck Norris’ comments that his participation in ‘The Expendables 2′ had cut the movie from an R-rating to PG-13 (the first Expendables movie received an R for violence and language), AICN spoke to Sylvester Stallone regarding the matter, and disappointingly (for me at least), Stallone confirmed that ‘The Expendables 2′ is indeed aiming for a PG-13:

“….the film is fantastic with Van Damme turning in an inspired performance… Our final battle is one for the ages. The PG13 rumor is true, but before your readers pass judgement, trust me when I say this film is LARGE in every way and delivers on every level. This confirmation has substantially decreased my interest in ‘The Expendables 2.’ Considering the first films financial success with an R-rating, and its emphasis on excessive violence, no-holds-barred action sequences, it seems quite bizarre to me that Stallone would aim for a PG-13 rating. Chuck Norris may be able to hold his breathe for nine years….it’s also apparent he doesn’t like swear words. In a recent interview with the Polish paper Gazeta, Chuck Norris claimed his participation in ‘The Expendables 2′ may have cut the movie from an R-rating to PG-13  (the first Expendables movie received an R for violence and language): “In ‘Expendables 2,’ there was a lot of vulgar dialogue in the screenplay. For  this reason, many young people wouldn’t be able to watch this. But I don’t play in movies like this,” Norris explained. “Due to that I said I won’t be a part of that if the hardcore language is not erased. Producers accepted my conditions and the movie will be classified in the category of PG-13.”

Considering the first films emphasis on violent, no-holds-barred action sequences, it seems quite bizarre to me that Chuck Norris has more of an issue with the dialogue rather than the violence.
