Three New Clips From The American – Starring George Clooney, Thekla Reuten & Irina Björklund
Aug 21st

Three new clips from The American have been released online giving us a closer look at Anton Corbijn’s forthcoming movie. I for one have been keeping a keen eye on this for a while now, it looks like an intelligent, finely tuned suspense thriller, I’m sure Corbijn’s accomplished photography skills will be put to good use on the visual side of things, and an impressive cast will lead to some fine performances. The American stars George Clooney as a hitman trying to do one last job in Italy before he retires, but – as they often do in movies – romantic entanglements complicate matters. The American is set for release September 1st in the US, and October 8th in the UK.
Academy Award winner George Clooney stars in the title role of this suspense thriller. As an assassin, Jack (played by Mr. Clooney) is constantly on the move and always alone. After a job in Sweden ends more harshly than expected for this American abroad, Jack retreats to the Italian countryside. He relishes being away from death for a spell as he holes up in a small medieval town. While there, Jack takes an assignment to construct a weapon for a mysterious contact, Mathilde (Thekla Reuten). Savoring the peaceful quietude he finds in the mountains of Abruzzo, Jack accepts the friendship of local priest Father Benedetto (Paolo Bonacelli) and pursues a torrid liaison with a beautiful woman, Clara (Violante Placido). Jack and Clara’s time together evolves into a romance, one seemingly free of danger. But by stepping out of the shadows, Jack may be tempting fate. The American comes to theaters September 1st, 2010 and stars George Clooney, Thekla Reuten, Irina Björklund, Violante Placido, Paolo Bonacelli, Samuli Vauramo, Filippo Timi, Björn Granath. The film is directed by Anton Corbijn.

I’ve been as keen as mustard to check this out. I’ve loved the various trailers, images and posters that have been released. I’ve got a thing for slick spy thriller’s so this pretty much had me at hello the synopsis. The fact that the trailers have made the film look like a atmospheric, tense and visually stunning flick is only a plus. Check out these two great TV Spot’s below.

I’m really up for this film, it look’s like a visual feast. You can tell director Anton Corbijn is an accomplished photographer, the film looks so stylish. Corbijn has released a bunch of new images from set of the film and a couple from the film itself via his blog. Clooney is good people, he’s got a great ear for working on projects that have vision and integrity.

New Poster For George Clooney’s The American

It look’s like we’re in for a corker with this film. You can really tell director Anton Corbijn is an accomplished photographer, the film looks so stylish. George Clooney always helps a film win style points, he’s pretty much the most likeable and stylish guy on earth, which when you consider the fact that he was the worst Batman in cinema history (yes even worse than Val Kilmer) and more annoyingly that your Mum, Sister, Aunt, Girlfriend, Wife, Grandma and Dog fancies him, his likeability is an astounding achievement!

The American Trailer – Starring George Clooney

Everyone pretty much likes George Clooney, even the internet haters, which when considering he was the worst Batman in cinema history (yes he was worse than Val Kilmer) and the fact that your Mum, Sister, Aunt, Girlfriend, Wife, Grandma, Dog fancies him is a fine achievement. He pretty much wins everyone over with his effortless charm and humour (another reason to hate on him), and now he is playing an Assassin which will give him even more brownie points, especially on the manly side of things. I’m stoked for this film, the trailer looks great, you can tell that director Anton Corbijn is an accomplished Photographer , the film looks beautiful. The American is directed by Anton Corbijn and also stars Bruce Altman, Thekla Reuten, Paolo Bonacelli and Violante Placido. It’s is in cinemas September 1, 2010.
