New Looks At Tom Hardy’s Bane & Batman’s “The Bat” In ‘The Dark Knight Rises’
Jun 15th
A number of new images have landed online for Christopher Nolan’s epic-conclusion to his Batman trilogy, ’The Dark Knight Rises,’ by way of scans from Brandon T. Snider’s tie-in book ‘The Dark Knight Manual.’ The images provide us with fresh looks at Tom Hardy’s physically imposing and intellectual villain Bane, Bruce Wayne/Batman’s new flying vehicle “The Bat,” and finally Bane’s mysterious “Earthquake device”. Nolan recently had the following to say about Batman’s “The Bat”, ”It’s very much based on a doubt-bladed helicopter idea, once again a realistic approach to military hardware. We had Corbould and his guys build it full scale and come up with this great driving rig for it so we could photograph it in real streets, and there’s a big computer graphics component to it as well. It’s fun to take Batman to the next level in terms of his transportation and weaponry – in terms of his ability to fight people.” I’m extremely excited about seeing Tom Hardy bringing the brains and brawn to his incarnation of Bane in ‘The Dark Knight Rises.’ From what I’ve seen of his performance he looks like an absolute beast!
While the overall plot for ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ is being kept under wraps, I think it’s safe to say that that we can expect something rather special from the film judging by the two previous chapters in Nolan’s Batman trilogy (‘Batman Begins’ and ‘The Dark Knight’), the films marketing campaign, the stellar cast and most importantly, for me, the final theatrical trailer. Christopher Nolan’s film is based upon characters appearing in comic books published by the good folks over at DC Comics. ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ stars Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Tom Hardy as Bane, Gary Oldman as Commissioner Jim Gordon, Joseph Gordon-Levitt as John Blake, Michael Caine as Alfred, Morgan Freeman as Lucius Fox, and Marion Cotillard as Miranda Tate. Juno Temple, Josh Pence, Daniel Sunjata, Nestor Carbonell, Tom Conti, Joey King, Brett Cullen, Chris Ellis, Josh Stewart, Christopher Judge, Adam Rodriguez and Rob Brown co-star. The screenplay for the eagerly awaited film is written by Christopher Nolan and Jonathan Nolan, from a story by Nolan and David S. Goyer. ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ arrives in cinemas and IMAX on July 20th. The synopsis for ‘The Dark Knight Manual’ is below. Sources: SHH and Batman-Online.
30 Second Samples Released For Hans Zimmer’s ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ Soundtrack
Jun 14th
Batman-News has posted this collection of 30 second samples from Hans Zimmer’s soundtrack for Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Dark Knight Rises,’ the enormously-anticipated finale to the filmmakers Batman trilogy. In crafting a complete soundscape for this character and the world he exists in, I’ve loved the work Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard have done for the Dark Knight saga. For this particular soundtrack, Hans Zimmer has worked solo, yet from what I hear from these snippets the score for ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ sounds every bit as dark, moody and bombastic as the ones for both ‘Batman Begins’ and ‘The Dark Knight.’ Available in stores on July 17th, you can pre-order ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ soundtrack at Amazon and Amazon UK. Once the credits started to roll after the final scene in ‘The Dark Knight’ – the visually stunning montage scene featuring Jim Gordon’s (Gary Oldman) epic “he’s the hero Gotham deserves” monologue, capped off with that last beautiful shot of Christian Bale’s Batman on his Bat-pod going off in the distance – a third instalment in Christopher Nolan’s Batman series has been sitting gloriously and comfortably at the top of my “most anticipated film” list. These soundtrack snippets just further my fervent anticipation!
Based upon characters appearing in comic books published by DC Comics, ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ is set eight years after Batman took the fall for Two Face’s crimes in ‘The Dark Knight.’ The film sees the Caped Crusader resurface to protect a city that brands him an enemy as a new terrorist leader, Bane, overwhelms Gotham’s finest. ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ stars Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Tom Hardy as Bane, Gary Oldman as Commissioner Jim Gordon, Joseph Gordon-Levitt as John Blake, Michael Caine as Alfred, Morgan Freeman as Lucius Fox, and Marion Cotillard as Miranda Tate. Matthew Modine Talks ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ – Speaks On Christopher Nolan, Christian Bale, ‘The Avengers’….
Jun 13th
With the hugely-anticipated release of Christopher Nolan’s final chapter in his Batman trilogy, ‘The Dark Knight Rises,’ on the horizon (you can purchase advanced North American tickets for the film here), ComicBookResources has caught up with one of the newcomers to Nolan’s Batman saga in Matthew Modine, who’s portraying Gotham Deputy Commissioner Foley. ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ sees Christian Bale returning to the role of the Bruce Wayne/Batman alongside series regulars Commissioner Jim Gordon (Gary Oldman), Lucius Fox (Morgan Freeman), and Alfred (Michael Caine) – Bruce Wayne’s butler, guardian, and above all, friend. Besides Modine, newcomers to Nolan’s Dark Knight series also include Anne Hathaway’s morally ambiguous Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Tom Hardy’s villainous Bane, Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s John Blake, and Marion Cotillard’s Miranda Tate. In the interview, Modine exclaimed his excitement about being a part of ‘The Dark Kight Rises,’ and working with Christopher Nolan and the films first-rate cast: “I’m very excited to be a part of the film…if I told you any more, I’d be in violation of my non-disclosure agreement! ”The only thing I can say is that the experience of working with Christopher Nolan and this tremendous cast of returning characters and new characters – Tom Hardy and Anne Hathaway, my friend Gary Oldman – on such an extraordinary franchise is one of the highlights of my career. Gary’s an old friend, we’ve worked together before, we came up together. I’m a great admirer of Gary. Even if I wasn’t in a scene, I wanted to be there, watching how [Nolan] was making the film, watching the other actors work. I mean, look who you have! When do you get a chance to watch Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman and Gary Oldman and Christian Bale? Some of the most wonderful actors alive working today?”
Modine also dubbed himself a Dark Knight movie franchise fan, saying that the appeal of doing ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ was partly motivated by his movie fandom, but largely motivated by his love of Batman the character: “I think he’s such an extraordinary character, Batman, because he’s a human being. He’s not a man with supernatural powers, he’s not a mythological character — he’s just a man who’s damaged, who’s broken like so many people in the world…trying to do good. The interesting point then becomes, when you do good, when you’re fighting crime, when do you cross that line of becoming a vigilante? I think that ‘broken person doing good’ is something we all aspire to in our life, trying to overcome our fears and trying to fight evil in the world. He’s a character we all relate to.” With another laugh, Modine joked, “You can’t really relate to Thor, for instance! I like the story, but I don’t relate to him — I can’t use his hammer!”

Striking Fan Poster For Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Dark Knight Rises’
Jun 9th
“The Legend Ends.” I’m loving this! This new fan poster has landed online for Christopher Nolan’s highly-anticipated third and final chapter in his Batman saga, ‘The Dark Knight Rises.’ The poster is inspired by the scene showcased in the films theatrical trailer featuring Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s John Blake having a conversation with a child drawing a chalk Batman symbol. This chalk depiction of Batman’s logo was heavily involved in the viral campaign across the globe for ‘The Dark Knight Rises,’ leading to the release of the final trailer. For me, it’s one of the most thrilling trailers I’ve ever seen. The pace, music, atmosphere and visuals of that trailer are truly breathtaking. Christopher Nolan, or whoever puts together his trailers, really understands the value of sound and mystery: Interest – 100/100, Giving out plot – 10/100. It kept ’The Dark Knight Rises’ overall plot shrouded in secrecy, while still showcasing the films major characters in Christian Bale’s Bruce Wayne/Batman, Anne Hathaway’s Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Tom Hardy’s villainous Bane, Gary Oldman’s Commissioner Jim Gordon, Morgan Freeman’s Lucius Fox, Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s John Blake, Mchael Caine’s Alfred, and Marion Cotillard’s Miranda Tate.

Awesome ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ Fan-Made Poster Featuring Batman & Catwoman Flying “The Bat”
Jun 8th
Continuing Messenjahmatt’s steady steam of first-rate posters for Christopher Nolan’s third and final chapter in his Batman series, ‘The Dark Knight Rises,’ he’s put together this new poster showcasing Christian Bale’s Batman and Anne Hathaway’s Catwoman in the Dark Knight’s new flying vehicle, “The Bat.” The promotional material for ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ has raised more questions than it answers in regards to how Hathaway’s Catwoman/Selina Kyle fits into the story of the film. At this moment in time she’s an enigma – is she Batman/Bruce Wayne’s friend, foe, or somewhere in the middle? Considering Catwoman’s history in the comic books and Christopher Nolan’s approach, I’d expect a dark, complex character to compliment Christian Bale’s Caped Crusader.
While the overall plot for ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ is still shrouded in secrecy, I think it’s safe to say that judging by the films marketing campaign, theatrical trailer, and two previous films in Nolan’s Batman trilogy (‘Batman Begins’ and ‘The Dark Knight’), to expect something stellar! ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ is based upon characters appearing in comic books published by the good folks over at DC Comics.
