New Poster For The Sorcerer’s Apprentice – Starring Nicolas Cage
Jul 8th
To be honest this doesn’t look like my cup of tea, I’m sure it will be a good film to take the family, but for me it looks like something Disney have put out before. Everything I’ve seen so far from the film just reminds me of the National Treasure films, but with wands, pointy hat’s, dragon’s and magic. It didn’t surprise me in the slightest that it’s directed by the same guy who helmed those two films – Jon Turteltaub. On a more positive note, I like the cast, I’ve really enjoyed Nicolas Cage on screen lately, he was great in Kick Ass and if you haven’t seen Bad Lieutenant: Port Of Call New Orleans you need to do yourself a favour and check it out, it’s fantastic. I’m a big fan of Alfred Molina and Toby Kebbell as well. They who both recently starred in Producer Jerry Bruckheimer’s other film in 2010 – Prince Of Persia: Sand’s Of Time (which was a steaming turd). The Sorcerer’s Apprentice is in US cinemas July 14th and August 9th for the UK.
Loosely adapted from the classic story from Fantasia, and based in modern-day Manhattan, Nicolas Cage plays Balthazar Blake, a sorcerer who recruits and trains a young protege (Jay Baruchel) to help fight the forces of darkness. Celebrity illusionist Drake Stone (Toby Kebbell) joins forces with an evil sorcerer named Horvath (Alfred Molina), to “gain ultimate powers.” The film, also features Teresa Palmer (Bedtime Stories) as Baruchel’s love interest and Monica Bellucci (Passion of the Christ, The Matrix Reloaded and my favorite MILF!) as Veronica, a sorceress and the long-lost love of Cage’s character. The Sorcerer’s Apprentice is set to hit theaters on July 16th 2010.

In “Good vs. Evil,” we’re introduced to Dave [Jay Baruchel], Balthazar Blake’s [Nicolas Cage] apprentice, as he begins to master the art of sorcery through his teacher. We also discover the centuries old rivalry between Balthazar and his nemesis, Maxim Horvath [Alfred Molina].
The Sorcerer’s Apprentice Trailer

A movie with Nicolas Cage doesn’t repell me as much as it used to after watching his amazing performance in The Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call – New Orleans, this actually looks like a good bit of popcorn fun. I think Toby Kebbell is one of the best young actors around as well so I look forward to seeing him in this. Check out the trailer below
