After the birth of Renesmee Cullen (Mackenzie Foy), Bella (Kristen Stewart), who is now a vampire, finds herself enjoying her new life and abilities. However, the vampire Irina (Maggie Grace) misidentifies Renesmee as an “immortal child” – a child who has been turned into a vampire – and because immortal children are uncontrollable, creating them has been outlawed by the Volturi. After Irina presents her allegation to the Volturi, they plan to destroy Renesmee and the Cullens. In an attempt to survive, the Cullens gather other vampire clans from around the world to stand as witnesses and prove to the Volturi that Renesmee is not an immortal child. Upon confronting the gathered Cullen witnesses, the Volturi discover that they have been misinformed and immediately execute Irina for her mistake. However, they remain undecided on whether Renesmee should be viewed as a threat to vampires’ secret existence.

Was there a scene in the book that you were particularly looking forward to shoot in ‘The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2′?
Kellan Lutz: I’ve enjoyed a lot of different beats in the ‘Twilight’ story, but I was really looking forward to doing the arm wrestling scene with Kristen. It’s one of the big moments for Emmett, and the fans are really looking forward to it. It was fun to shoot. When I first read it in that book I was excited because Emmett finally had a one-on-one scene with Bella, and not just human Bella, but vampire Bella. We had a great time shooting it. I wish we could’ve spent a full day doing it just because I had so much fun doing that scene, but I loved every second. It’s a funny scene.

How much of a help was it having Stephenie Meyer on set while filming?
Taylor Lautner: Stephenie’s great, I can’t thank her enough. She created these characters, so having her on set for these movies has been amazing. Whenever you need anything or have any questions – and lets face it, ‘The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2′ is probably the most confusing, complicated ‘Twilight’ movie yet. So it was awesome to be able to go up to her in any given moment and ask her anything – and of course she has all the answers (laughs).

How was it for you getting your head around the psychological aspect of Bella becoming a vampire, and her powers?
Kristen Stewart: I was really, really excited about developing Bella’s vamp thing. And not just the look, I know people are obsessed with the look and all of that, but really, for me, she’s definitely my favourite vampire – I like her powers the best. Bella doesn’t even realize she has these really enormous talents, she discredits everything she’s got. Even though she makes fun of it, her super self-control is actually probably the coolest power in the series. Also she can project her shield, like a membrane. Bella can protect anyone who steps within that, and any other vampy power has no effect on her whatsoever, which is why Edward cannot read her mind. It all starts to click why it’s been so difficult, why they’ve been drawn together, and why she’s been such a mystery to him….all of that makes sense now. It was really interesting.

When you were shooting the first film with Catherine Hardwicke, did you ever have any idea how huge this series would be? Was there ever an inkling on set?
Peter Facinelli: I don’t we thought it would be anything like this (laughs).
Elizabeth Reaser: We were standing, filming in the rain going like, “What are we doing?” (Laughs).
Peter Facinelli: We had rain coming down, our make-up was streaming down our faces, the wigs were falling off. We looked like The Munsters on set, we were like, “This is going to end our careers!” (Laughs) We had no idea that Catherine was putting together something so cool. Because filming, you don’t know the tone of the movie, once you know what the tone of the movie is, then you get it. But when you are just shooting scene by scene, in the hands of the wrong director it could have been terrible. It’s very delicate material, it could go really goofy very quickly if you don’t do it the right way.

What was the moment for you when you thought, “Wow, this ‘Twilight’ thing is going to be huge.” Do you remember that moment or what that thing was, or was it a series of things? Was there ever an inkling of that while filming the first movie?
Jackson Rathbone: It kind of just kept growing, in terms of that anticipation of what it might become. It was never the understanding straight away that, “Look at this, we’re going to be a part of this amazing franchise.” When we first signed on for ‘Twilight’ it was like joining a different take on a vampire story. Then as we were filming people started knocking on our doors and showing up, taking pictures of us. All of these fansites started popping up as well, fan fiction. You started thinking, “This is way different than other projects I’ve done! (Laughs) People haven’t even seen it yet!” And still, that didn’t really sink in until the premier, for me at least. Driving up with my family and seeing this amazing amount of people screaming and all of these reporters. I was out on the red carpet for like two and a half hours talking and signing autographs, taking pictures – it was intense.
