First (Low-Res) Trailer For Bong Joon-Ho’s ‘Snowpiercer’ – Starring Chris Evans, Jamie Bell & Tilda Swinton

This first trailer has landed online (in low-res) for ‘Snowpiercer,’ the highly anticipated post-apocalyptic drama by writer/director Bong Joon-ho (The Host, Mother) and producer Chan wook-Park (Oldboy, Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance). The film is described as ”set in a future where, after a failed experiment to stop global warming, an Ice Age kills off all life on the planet except for the inhabitants of the Snow Piercer, a train that travels around the globe and is powered by a sacred perpetual-motion engine. A class system evolves on the train but a revolution brews.”
While there’s currently no release date set for ‘Snowpiercer,’ it is expected that The Weinstein Company will be releasing the film later this year. ’Snowpiercer’ stars Tilda Swinton, Jamie Bell, Chris Evans, John Hurt, Ed Harris, John Hurt, Ko Asung, Alison Pill, Ewan Bremner, Octavia Spencer and Song Kang-ho – who previously starred in Bong Joon-ho’s equally fantastic ‘The Host’ and ‘Memories Of Murder.’ Marking Bong’s English language debut, ‘Snowpiercer’ is based on a French graphic novel titled ‘Le Transperceneige.’ All signs point towards this being a gem!
Sony Pictures Classics Acquires Jim Jarmusch’s ‘Only Lovers Left Alive’ – Starring Tom Hiddleston & Tilda Swinton

Sony Pictures Classics has acquired all North American rights to Jim Jarmusch’s (Broken Flowers, Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai, Dead Man) crypto-vampire love story ’Only Lovers Left Alive,’ which will have its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival on Saturday in the competition section. ‘Only Lovers Left Alive’ is lead by Tom Hiddleston as Adam, an underground musician who’s deeply depressed by the direction of human activities. He reunites with his centuries-long lover, Eve (Tilda Swinton), though their idyll is soon interrupted by Eve’s wild and uncontrollable younger sister Ava (Mia Wasikowska). John Hurt, Anton Yelchin and Jeffrey Wright also star. The synopsis for the film is as follows. Expect a confirmed release date for the film shortly.
“Only Lovers Left Alive takes place against the romantic desolation of Detroit and Tangier and follows an underground musician, deeply depressed by the direction of human activities, who reunites with his resilient and enigmatic lover. Fox Searchlight Acquire Wes Anderson’s ‘The Grand Budapest Hotel’; New Plot Details Revealed

Screendaily bring word that Fox Searchlight has acquired worldwide rights to Wes Anderson’s ‘Moonrise Kingdom’ follow-up, ‘The Grand Budapest Hotel,’ and has come on board as co-financier. At this moment in time, the studio is understood to be exploring release dates either in late 2013 or 2014. ‘The Grand Budapest Hotel’ marks the first time Fox Searchlight has distributed an Anderson film since 2009’s ‘Fantastic Mr. Fox.’ It also released ‘The Darjeeling Limited’ in 2007. Anderson has said that the story, set 85 years ago in a Hungarian hotel, is partly inspired by the witty films of Billy Wilder and Ernst Lubitsch (The Shop Around the Corner).
The stellar cast for ‘The Grand Budapest Hotel’ includes Ralph Fiennes, Edward Norton, Owen Wilson, Tilda Swinton, Jude Law, Bill Murray, Adrien Brody, Harvey Keitel, Jason Schwartzman, Willem Dafoe, Jeff Goldblum, Saoirse Ronan, Tom Wilkinson, Mathieu Amalric, F Murray Abraham, Bob Balaban and Tony Revolori. The new plot details revealed in Screendaily’s report is as follows: “The Grand Budapest Hotel tells of a legendary concierge at a famous European hotel between the wars and his friendship with a young employee who becomes his trusted protégé. The story involves the theft and recovery of a priceless Renaissance painting, the battle for an enormous family fortune and the slow and then sudden upheavals that transformed Europe during the first half of the 20th century.”
