Peter Jackson Talks On ‘The Hobbit’ – Reveals It’s Tonally & Visually Consistent With His ‘Lord of the Rings’ Films
Jan 20th
MTV recently spoke to Peter Jackson about his two-part movie adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien’s ‘The Hobbit.’ The filmmaker revealed that it was always his intention to keep ‘The Hobbit’ tonally and visually consistent with his”Lord of the Rings” films: ”We wanted it to be a part of the five-film series. “Fortunately, Tolkien wrote a lot of extra material in the appendices of ‘The Lord of the Rings,’ where he himself kind of tied the two stories together, 20 or 30 years after the publication of ‘The Hobbit.’ So we’ve been able to use some of that material.”
Jackson also revealed that filming on the two Hobbit films will wrap up about July time, while also explaining how he’s more than thrilled to once again be dabbling in dwarves and dragons: “I’m enjoying the movie [as much as the fans], which is the thing that I’m really excited about. “I love going to work every day. I love shooting it. In February, we start another 100 days of shooting, so by about July, we’re done. We will have shot both movies by that stage.”
The two films are set in Middle-earth 60 years before ‘The Lord of the Rings,’ which Jackson and his film-making team brought to the big screen in the fantastic blockbuster trilogy that culminated with the Oscar-winning ‘The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King.’ ‘The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey’ has been pencilled in for a December 14th release date. ‘The Hobbit: There and Back Again’ will hit cinemas December 13th, 2013.

Two Hi-Res Images From ‘Men In Black 3′ – Featuring Will Smith & Tommy Lee Jones
Jan 18th
Sony Pictures has released, in hi-res, these two previously seen, in low-res, images of Will Smith (Agent J) and Tommy Lee Jones (Agent K) for Barry Sonnenfeld’s ‘Men In Black 3.’ Alongside the two main protagonists, the film co-stars Sacha Baron Cohen, Emma Thompson, Emma Thompson, Jermaine Clement, Sharlto Copley, Johnny Knoxville, Alice Eve, Betty White, Nicole Scherzinger, and Josh Brolin – who’s portraying a younger version of Tommy Lee Jones’s character Agent K. For those confused why Brolin is playing a younger Agent K, part of the plot for ‘Men in Black 3’ involves Agent J going back to the 1960s to save K and thus prevent a universe-ending catastrophe. ‘Men in Black’ and ‘Men in Black 2,’ which came out in 1997 and 2002 respectively, have combined to earn nearly 1.1 billion dollars worldwide – big chee$e. ‘Men in Black 3’ is set for release May 25th.
In Men In Black 3, Agents J (Will Smith) and K (Tommy Lee Jones) are back… in time. J has seen some inexplicable things in his 15 years with the Men in Black, but nothing, not even aliens, perplexes him as much as his wry, reticent partner. But when K’s life and the fate of the planet are put at stake, Agent J will have to travel back in time to put things right. J discovers that there are secrets to the universe that K never told him — secrets that will reveal themselves as he teams up with the young Agent K (Josh Brolin) to save his partner, the agency, and the future of humankind.

Warner Bros has just sent me over this UK trailer for Jean-Jacques Annaud’s upcoming drama ‘Black Gold.’ Starring Tahar Rahim, Antonio Banderas, Mark Strong, Frieda Pinto, Riz Ahmed, Eriq Ebouaney and Corey Johnson, the film centers on a young Arab prince torn between allegiance to his conservative father and modern, liberal father-in-law as well as the rivalry between two Emirs in Arabia. ‘Black Gold’ will use Hans R. Ruesch’s 1957 novel “South Of The Heart: A Novel Of Modern Arabia” as a launching pad for the story that revolves around the rivalry between Arabian rulers in the 1930s just as oil is being discovered, and the rise of a young, dynamic leader who unites the various tribes of the desert kingdoms. ‘Black Gold’ is set for release Febuary 24th in the UK.
Early 20th Century- Arabia. Under the unforgiving desert sky, two warring leaders come face to face. The bodies of their warriors litter the battlefield. The victorious Nesib, Emir of Hobeika (ANTONIO BANDERAS), lays down his peace terms to his rival Amar, Sultan of Salmaah (MARK STRONG). The two men agree that neither may lay claim to the area of no man’s land between them called The Yellow Belt. In return and according to the tribal customs of the time, Nesib will “adopt”- or take hostage- Amar’s two boys Saleeh (AKIN GAZI) and Auda (TAHAR RAHIM); a guarantee that neither man can invade the other. Years later, Saleeh and Auda have grown into young men. Saleeh, the warrior, itches to escape his gilded cage and return to his father’s land. Auda cares only for books and the pursuit of knowledge. One day, their adopted father Nesib is visited by an American oil man from Texas (COREY JOHNSON). He tells the Emir that his land is blessed with oil and promises him riches beyond his imagination.
