20th Century Fox have unveiled this new UK poster for Rupert Wyatt’s (The Escapist) highly-anticipated sci-fi drama flick ‘Rise of the Planet of the Apes,’ showcasing the stunning lifelike visual effects from WETA Digital. My enthusiasm has been steadily rising for this film. ‘Rise of the Planet of the Apes’ arrives in cinemas August 5th in the US and August 11th in the UK. The film stars James Franco, Freida Pinto, John Lithgow, Tom Felton, Tyler Labine, Brian Cox and Andy Serkis portraying a super intelligent ape with motion capture.

An origin story in the true sense of the word, RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES is set in present day San Francisco. The film is a reality-based cautionary tale — a science fiction/science-fact blend where mankind’s hubris leads to the development of intelligence in apes and the onset of a war for supremacy. Oscar(R)-winning visual effects house WETA Digital – employing certain of the groundbreaking technologies developed for “Avatar” – will render, for the first time ever in the film series, photo-realistic apes rather than costumed actors.

My childhood…..it’s calling! Walt Disney Pictures have released this new international poster for the hotly anticipated family comedy ‘The Muppets.’ In the addition to the Muppet gang, the film features an all-star cast in the likes of Jason Segel, Amy Adams, Chris Cooper, Rashida Jones, Emily Blunt, Zack Galifianakis and Ricky Gervais. ‘The Muppets’ is set for release November 23rd in the US, and Febuary 17th in the UK.

On vacation in Los Angeles, Walter, the world’s biggest Muppet fan, and his friends Gary (Segel) and Mary (Amy Adams) from Smalltown, USA, discover the nefarious plan of oilman Tex Richman (Chris Cooper) to raze the Muppet Theater and drill for the oil recently discovered beneath the Muppets’ former stomping grounds. To stage The Greatest Muppet Telethon Ever and raise the $10 million needed to save the theater, Walter, Mary and Gary help Kermit reunite the Muppets, who have all gone their separate ways: Fozzie now performs with a Reno casino house band called the Moopets, Miss Piggy is a plus-size fashion editor at Vogue Paris, Animal is in a Santa Barbara clinic for anger management, and Gonzo is a high-powered plumbing magnate.

The good folks over at DreamWorks Pictures have liberated these four new UK character posters for Craig Gillespie’s upcoming remake of the cult horror-comedy ‘Fright Night.’ The one-sheets feature David Tennant as TV show host Peter Vincent, Anton Yelchin as Charley Brewster, a teenage boy who begins to suspect that his new next-door neighbour is a vampire; Colin Farrell as Jerry Dandridge, said fanged fiend, and British actress Imogen Poots as Amy, Charley’s girlfriend. ‘Fright Night’ hits cinemas August 19th in the US and September 2nd in the UK.

Senior Charlie Brewster (Yelchin) finally has it all going on: he’s running with the popular crowd and dating the most coveted girl in his high school. In fact, he’s so cool he’s even dissing his best friend. But trouble arrives when Jerry (Farrell) moves in next door. He seems like a great guy at first, but there’s something not quite right—but everyone, including Charlie’s mom (Collette), doesn’t notice. After observing some very strange activity, Charlie comes to an unmistakable conclusion: Jerry is a vampire preying on the neighborhood. Unable to convince anyone, Charlie has to find a way to get rid of the monster himself in this Craig Gillespie-helmed revamp of the comedy-horror classic.

With Terrence Malick’s Brad Pitt, Sean Penn and Jessica Chastain starring Palme d’Or winner, ‘The Tree Of Life,’ scheduled for a July 8th UK and Ireland release, the good folks over at Fox Searchlight have provided us with this UK trailer, poster and quad for the film. ’The Tree Of Life’ is a hymn to life, excavating answers to the most haunting and personal human questions through a kaleidoscope of the intimate and the cosmic, from the raw emotions of a family in a small Texan town to the wildest, infinite edges of space and time, from a boy’s loss of innocence to a man’s transforming encounters with awe, wonder and transcendence.

From Terrence Malick, the acclaimed director of such classic films as Badlands, Days of Heaven and The Thin Red Line, The Tree of Life is the impressionistic story of a Midwestern family in the 1950’s. The film follows the life journey of the eldest son, Jack, through the innocence of childhood to his disillusioned adult years as he tries to reconcile a complicated relationship with his father (Brad Pitt). Jack (played as an adult by Sean Penn) finds himself a lost soul in the modern world, seeking answers to the origins and meaning of life while questioning the existence of faith. Through Malick’s signature imagery, we see how both brute nature and spiritual grace shape not only our lives as individuals and families, but all life.

This UK quad poster and one-sheet has been released online for Jodie Foster’s upcoming drama ’The Beaver.’ The film stars Mel Gibson as a severely depressed man who finds solace in a beaver hand puppet…….yes a beaver hand puppet. I really don’t know what to say other than it looks as mad as a bottle of chips, yet at the same time strangely interesting! This film seems to be tailor made for Mel Gibson’s current situation. The film also stars Anton Yelchin (Star Trek) and Jennifer Lawrence (Winter’s Bone). The film is set for release June 17th in the UK, and May 6th in the US. Out of all the comic book-inspired flicks released this summer this is the one I’m looking forward to most – I’m thoroughly stoked! Michelle Williams has come a long way since playing Jen Lindley in the hit US show Dawson’s Creek.  Nominated for two Academy Awards for her roles in Brokeback Mountain and tear-jerker Blue Valentine she has established herself as one of Hollywood’s top Indie actresses.  To celebrate the UK release of Blue Valentine, on DVD and Blu-ray May 9th we take a look at the evolution of Michelle Williams.

Blue Valentine – 2010

Blue Valentine is a story of love found and love lost told in past and present moments in time. Flooded with romantic memories of their courtship, Dean (Ryan Gosling) and Cindy (Michelle Williams) use one night to try and save their failing.  Williams was nominated for an Academy Award for her role in this heartbreaking portrayal of a marriage break up.

Shutter Island – 2010

In this drama set in 1954, Michelle Williams plays the wife of U.S. Marshal Teddy Daniels (Leonardo DiCaprio) who is investigating the disappearance of a murderess who escaped from a hospital for the criminally insane and is presumed to be hiding nearby.

Mammoth – 2009

Mammoth follows the story of Leo (Gael Garcia Bernal) and Ellen (Williams) a successful New York couple, totally immersed in their work. Leo is the creator of a booming website, and has stumbled into a world of money and big decisions. Ellen is a dedicated emergency surgeon who devotes her long shifts to saving lives. Their 8-year old daughter Jackie spends most of her time with her Filipino nanny Gloria, a situation that is making Ellen start to question her priorities.

Wendy and Lucy – 2008

Williams plays a woman whose life is derailed en route to a potentially lucrative summer job. When her car breaks down, and her dog is taken to the pound, the thin fabric of her financial situation comes apart, as she is led through a series of increasingly dire economic decisions.

Brokeback Mountain – 2005

In this Oscar winning drama we see Williams take on the role of the wife of Ennis Del Mar, a Cowboy played by Heath Ledger. The story depicts a forbidden and secretive relationship between two cowboys and their lives over the years.

A Hole in One – 2004

When her brother Bobby returns from World War II mentally damaged, Anna (Williams) has to deal with her parents who don’t acknowledge her brother’s existence, who is now brought to a mental hospital. After his sudden death Anna begins to question her own sanity.

Land of Plenty – 2004

Land of Plenty investigates anxiety and disillusionment in America. Williams plays the American daughter of missionaries ‘Lana’ who returns to Los Angeles from Palestine to work in a mission helping homeless people.
