UK Trailer For ‘The Beaver’ – Starring Mel Gibson, Jodie Foster & Jennifer Lawrence
Apr 20th
This UK trailer has been released online for Jodie Foster’s upcoming drama ’The Beaver.’ The film stars Mel Gibson as a severely depressed man who finds solace in a beaver hand puppet…….yes a beaver hand puppet. I really don’t know what to say other than it looks as mad as a bottle of chips, yet at the same time strangely interesting! This film seems to be tailor made for Mel Gibson’s current situation. The film also stars Anton Yelchin (Star Trek) and Jennifer Lawrence (Winter’s Bone). The film is set for release June 17th in the UK, and May 6th in the US.
Two-time Academy Award® winner Jodie Foster directs and co-stars with two-time Academy Award® winner Mel Gibson in THE BEAVER – an emotional story about a man on a journey to re-discover his family and re-start his life.
Plagued by his own demons, Walter Black was once a successful toy executive and family man who now suffers from depression. No matter what he tries, Walter can’t seem to get himself back on track…until a beaver hand puppet enters his life.
UK Poster For Matthew Vaughn’s ‘X-Men: First Class’ – Starring Michael Fassbender & James McAvoy
Apr 19th
The good folks over at 20th Century Fox have sent me over this snazzy UK poster for Matthew Vaughn’s (Kick Ass, Layer Cake) upcoming superhero flick ‘X-Men: First Class.’ Out of all the comic book-inspired films released this summer this is the one I’m most amped for, I….AM….HYPED! ‘X-Men: First Class’ chronicals the origins of Charles Xavier and Magneto as they discover their powers and find their friendship tested, the film is set for release June 1st in the UK, and June 3rd in the US. UPDATE: Italian poster added below.
”X-Men: First Class charts the epic beginning of the X-Men saga, and reveals a secret history of famous global events. Before mutants had revealed themselves to the world, and before Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr took the names Professor X and Magneto, they were two young men discovering their powers for the first time. Not archenemies, they were instead at first the closest of friends, working together with other Mutants (some familiar, some new), to stop Armageddon. In the process, a grave rift between them opened, which began the eternal war between Magneto’s Brotherhood and Professor X’s X-Men.”
UK Poster For Takashi Miike’s ’13 Assassins’
Apr 6th
Artificial Eye have released this UK poster for Takashi Miike’s thrilling men-on-a-mission samurai flick ’13 Assassins.’ I’m super amped for this film, it looks pretty damn fantastic! Takashi Miike, Japan’s leading cult director, is the man behind films such as Ichi The Killer, Audition, Gozu, Dead or Alive and Visitor Q. ’13 Assassins’ is set to hit US cinemas April 29th, and UK cinemas May 6th. The film is a remake of Eiichi Kudo’s 1963 film of the same name.
The year is 1844. A young lord rapes and kills with impunity by virtue of his political connections. Though the era of the samurai is fading, an honest government official covertly enlists thirteen swordsmen to assassinate this sadistic lord before he can seize more power. With the clock ticking, the assassins lay a deadly trap for the lord and his army of bodyguards, culminating in one of the bloodiest, muddiest swordfights ever put to film.
Michael Jai White Interview For Black Dynamite – Released On DVD 24th January In The UK
Jan 19th
”Ain’t nothin’ in the world get Black Dynamite more mad than some jive ass sucka dealin’ smack to the kids!” In time for the release of the hilariously entertaining ‘Black Dynamite’ on DVD this coming Monday (24th of January), you can find below my in-depth interview with Michael Jai White, who stars as the gun-toting, nunchuck-wielding, ladies man and soul brother Black Dynamite……can you dig it? You can order Black Dynamite from Amazon here: Black Dynamite [DVD] [2009]
How did Black Dynamite get started?
Michael Jai White: About three years ago, I was in Bulgaria doing a movie called Undisputed 2. I had my iPod on. I was listening to a mix, and on came James Brown’s Superbad, and I got this idea of doing a throwback type of movie. I’d grown up seeing these blaxploitation movies as a child, and I thought they were quite funny – but they also had a spirit to them. It was the spirit of the 70s. The movies back then, they were so politically charged, they were so sexually open. It was a lively time. So I thought it, “Wow. I’d love to do that. I’d love to make a movie that evoked the same feelings as those movies did back then.” So I embarked on this mission, basically.
What was the first thing you did about it?
Michael Jai White: When I got back to the States, I did a photo shoot and rented some costumes – incidentally, I rented the exact costumes that I wear in the movie. I was pointing a gun, I had some nunchucks, and that photo shoot pretty much designed the template for the movie. Right there, the line was drawn: at first glance, it looked really badass. But if you looked a little closer, the nunchucks made it look ridiculous. But you had to discover it. And that’s pretty much the tone of the movie. After that, Scott Sanders came to me, about another movie that he wanted me to do, and he asked me what I was up to. I showed him the photo shoot. I said, “I’m pulling this thing together.” And Scott just flipped. He was like, “Oh my God, I’ve gotta get involved in this.” We hadn’t worked together for ten years, and he’s one of those people that really has to love a project to be able to work on it. So we decided to work on it together. And the rest is history.
