Abrams’ upcoming ‘Star Trek’ sequel currently underway in Los Angeles, producer-screenwriter Robert Orci has tweeted this debut batch of images from the set of the film. ‘Star Trek 2′ will be released May 17th, 2013 in 3D. The 2009 re-launch of the ‘Star Trek’ franchise by Abrams was met with critical acclaim and a worldwide gross of over $385 million at the box office.
Returning to their posts on the Enterprise are John Cho, Bruce Greenwood, Simon Pegg, Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, and Anton Yelchin. They are joined by new cast members Benedict Cumberbatch, Alice Eve, Noel Clarke, Nazneen Contractor and Peter Weller. Based upon “Star Trek” created by Gene Roddenberry, the as-yet-untitled film is produced by J.J. Abrams, Bryan Burk, Damon Lindelof, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci. The script was written by Alex Kurtzman & Robert Orci & Damon Lindelof.
Zachary Quinto Speaks On J.J. Abrams’ ‘Star Trek 2′

With filming for J.J. Abrams’ upcoming ‘Star Trek’ sequel underway, Zachary Quinto (Spock) shared a few details with E! Online about the yet-to-be-titled film: “My eyebrows are shaved and I do my hair in a way that people don’t know I actually have my horrible Spock hair. It’s been really great. We’ve been shooting for a week and a half, and it’s been an incredible return to that world.”
No surprises that Quinto was tightlipped on storylines, he did however reveal that the cast didn’t see the script until just a month before cameras started rolling: ”It was the middle of December and finally I had to be like, ‘We need to read the script,’” Quinto said, with a smile. “They waited a pretty long time, but that’s because they were working on it. There was a writer’s strike the first time so they weren’t able to let the script evolve. Now it’s really changing…on a regular basis.”
Finally, the actor spoke on how the new additions to the cast (Benedict Cumberbatch, Alice Eve, Noel Clarke, Nazneen Contractor and Peter Weller) have settled in: “All of them have folded in so beautifully and brought a whole new level of intelligence and sensitivity.”

This fantastic poster has hit the web for ‘The Words,’ the directorial debut of writers Brian Klugman and Lee Sternthal (TRON: Legacy). The dramatic thriller centers on “a writer (Bradley Cooper) who at the peak of his literary success, discovers the price he must pay for stealing another man’s (Jeremy Irons) work.” The film boasts an impressive cast in Cooper, Irons, Zoe Saldana, Dennis Quaid, Olivia Wilde, Ben Barnes, and JK Simmons. Brian Klugman and Lee Sternthal also wrote the script, which went through the Sundance Screenwriter’s Lab and appeared on the Black List – the annual list of Hollywood’s best unproduced screenplays. ‘The Words’ will premiere at the Sundance Film Festival, which runs from January 19th to the 29th.
Rory Jansen, a struggling writer, aspires to be the next great literary voice. When he discovers a lost manuscript in a weathered attaché case, he realizes he possesses something extraordinary that he desperately wishes he had created. Rory decides to pass the work off as his own and finally receives the recognition he desperately craves. However, he soon learns that living with his choice will not be as easy as he thought as he faces a moral dilemma that will make him take a hard look at the man he has become.

Benedict Cumberbatch To Play The Villian In J.J. Abrams’ ‘Star Trek 2′

Hot on the heels of yesterdays news that Noel Clarke has joined the cast of J.J. Abrams’ upcoming ‘Star Trek’ sequel, Deadline bring word that Benedict Cumberbatch has been cast in a lead role in the film. While Deadline offer no details regarding the role, Variety are reporting that Cumberbatch has been tapped to play the villain, landing the role that Edgar Ramirez had auditioned for last month. Cumberbatch’s career has been steadily on the rise since playing Sherlock Holmes in the BBC’s modern adaptation series ‘Sherlock.’ Since then he’s landed roles in Steven Spielberg’s ‘War Horse’ (as ’Major Stewart’), ‘Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy’ and Peter Jackson’s ‘The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey’ and ‘The Hobbit: There And Back Again’ (as ‘Smaug the Dragon’ through motion capture and voicing the ‘Necromancer’).

Variety are reporting that actor/director/screenwriter Noel Clarke has joined J.J. Abrams’ upcoming ‘Star Trek’ sequel. Clarke will apparently play a family man with a wife and young daughter. As the film is set to start shooting in the coming weeks expect more details regarding Clarke’s role soon, in addition to further casting additions.
