THR are reporting that Byung-hun Lee, who played Storm Shadow in the ‘G.I. Joe’ movies, has been cast in a key role in ‘Terminator: Genesis,’ the reboot of the sci-fi action franchise being made by Skydance and Paramount. Also joining the cast are Michael Gladis and Sandrine Holt. In addition to this trio, ‘Terminator: Genesis’ also stars Emilia Clarke as Sarah Connor, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jason Clarke as John Connor, Jai Courtney as Kyle Reese, Dayo Okeniyi, and J.K. Simmons. Lee, a big star in his native South Korea, made his American debut with ‘G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra’ and ’G.I. Joe: Retaliation,’ and also appeared in ‘Red 2.’
Alan Taylor, who worked with Emilia Clarke in the HBO series ‘Game Of Thrones,’ is directing the film. The latest ‘Terminator’ will be the fifth installment of the storied movie series. Arnold Schwarzenegger starred in all but the last one, 2009’s ‘Terminator Salvation.’ Taylor cut his teeth directing big-budget HBO shows such as ’Game of Thrones’ and ’The Sopranos’ before making his movie debut with Marvel’s ’Thor: The Dark World.’ ‘Terminator: Genesis’ has a July 1st, 2015 release date.
Dayo Okeniyi Joins ‘Terminator: Genesis’; Emilia Clarke, Jason Clarke & Arnold Schwarzenegger Also Star
Variety bring word that ‘The Hunger Games’ and ‘The Spectacular Now’ star Dayo Okeniyi has been tapped to play Miles Dyson’s son in the latest installment in the “Terminator” franchise. Plot details have not been revealed, other than this is the first film in a standalone trilogy. In ‘Terminator 2: Judgement Day,’ Dyson, played by Joe Morton, was the scientist who helped in creating Cyberdyne Systems, the computer system that started the war between the machines and humans. Dyson is killed in the pic, but his son is featured briefly in the film. How he plays into this new standalone trilogy is unknown. John Boyega was linked to role earlier this week, yet it was noted that the ‘Attack The Block’ star is also up for a role in J.J. Abrams’ ‘Star Wars: Episode VII’ and could not appear in both projects.

John Boyega Wanted For ‘Terminator: Genesis’; Emilia Clarke, Jason Clarke & Arnold Schwarzenegger Star
Earlier this month it was reported that ‘Attack the Block’ and ‘Half of a Yellow Sun’ star John Boyega is among the young actors contending for a leading role in J.J. Abrams’ ‘Star Wars: Episode VII.’ Today, The Hollywood Reporter’s Borys Kit has revealed that Boyega is also being eyed for ‘Terminator: Genesis’ in the role of Miles Dyson’s son. The reporter adds that Boyega can’t do both, and is presumably waiting on his status with ‘Star Wars: Episode VII.’
In the previous films, Miles Dyson was the original inventor of the neural-net processor which would lead to the development of Skynet, a computer A.I. intended to control electronically linked weapons and defend the United States, but which would later seize control of the world and launch a global war of extermination against humanity. He was the man most directly responsible for Judgment Day, although his work was clearly not intended to bring about that, and Dyson was visibly distraught and disgusted to learn of the Rise of the Machines. Joe Morton played Dyson in ‘Terminator 2: Judgement Day.’
Out and about on the promotional campaign for ‘Sabotage,’ Arnold Schwarzenegger opened up to MTV about 2015′s ‘Terminator: Genesis.’ With production on the film – the first in a new stand-alone trilogy – set to begin next month, Schwarzenegger reveals that the script features multiple versions of his T-800, including a “young” take. “‘Terminator’ deals a lot with time travel, so there will be a younger T-800, and then [there is] what that model does later on when it gets reprogrammed, and who gets ahold of him. So it will be all kinds of interesting twists in the movie.”
The original ‘Terminator” introduced Arnold Schwarzenegger’s time-traveling killer robot in 1984, when the actor was a mere 37 years old. He last played the T-800 model in the 2003 threequel ‘Terminator: Rise of the Machines,’ which was over a decade ago. Schwarzenegger goes on to explain the film’s solution to having his character looking three decades older than he did in the James Cameron original. “The way that the character is written, it’s a machine underneath. It’s this metal skeleton. But above that is human flesh. And the Terminator’s flesh ages, just like any other human being’s flesh. Maybe not as fast. But it definitely ages.”
Variety and The Wrap are reporting that Tilda Swinton, Barkhad Abdi, comedians Mike Birbiglia, Jon Glaser and Vanessa Bayer (“SNL”), pro wrestler John Cena and Swinton’s ‘We Need to Talk About Kevin’ co-star Ezra Miller are all in various stages of negotiations to join the cast of ‘Trainwreck. Directed by Judd Apatow (The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Knocked Up, This Is 40), the film also stars Amy Schumer, Bill Hader and Brie Larson.Schumer scripted ‘Trainwreck’ for Universal and developed it with Apatow, who is also producing with Barry Mendel through his Apatow Productions. Plot details are being kept secret at the moment, but the film is slated to hit the big screen on July 24th, 2015.
Jai Courtney Is Kyle Reese In ‘Terminator: Genesis’; Emilia Clarke, Jason Clarke & Arnold Schwarzenegger Also Star
Variety are reporting that Jai Courtney has landed the role of Kyle Reese in the upcoming ‘Terminator: Genesis.’ In the 1984 original Kyle Reese, played by Michael Biehn, is sent back in time to protect Sarah Connor and ends up being the father to the savior of the future, John Connor. Courtney is coming off ‘Jack Reacher’ and ‘A Good Day To Die Hard,’ and will next be seen in ‘Divergent.’ He recently shot the Angelina Jolie-directed ‘Unbroken’ and Russell Crowe-helmed ‘The Water Diviner.’
Emilia Clarke and Jason Clarke are already on board to play Sarah and John Connor, with Arnold Schwarzenegger expected to return to his iconic role. Alan Taylor, who worked with Clarke in the HBO series ‘Game Of Thrones,’ is directing. No plot details have been released yet, but a time travel element is probably expected since Emilia Clarke and Jai Courtney are younger than Jason Clarke.
