Back in the summer of 2012 it was reported that ‘(500) Days of Summer’ and ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ director Marc Webb had been tapped to helm the indie drama ‘The Only Living Boy in New York.’ The film was put on hold as Webb focused on “The Amazing Spider-Man” franchise for Sony, yet we now hear that Miles Teller is in talks to lead the indie drama. The Allen Loeb-scripted film is a twisted coming-of-age tale in which a young man (potentially Teller) learns that his overbearing father is having an affair. The son tries to stop it, only to become involved with the woman as well. With advice from a questionable quirky neighbor, the young man learns about love.
20th Century Fox has acquired ‘Cold Comfort’ with Marc Webb attached to direct. The film is an adaptation of the upcoming novel ‘Cold Comfort (aka How to Catch a Russian Spy)’ by columnist Ellis Henican, and follows an American civilian who convinced the FBI to allow him to help bring down a Russian agent on American soil. Henican co-wrote ‘Home Team,’ a New York Times Best Seller recounting the story of the New Orleans Saints’ rise to a Super Bowl championship, and ‘Damn Few: Making the Modern SEAL Warrior,’ which hit stores in January.
Marc Webb most recently helmed ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ and is currently on post-production for ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2.’ He previously directed ‘(500) Days of Summer’ and is set to helm the third ‘Amazing Spider-Man’ film.
In a recent chit-chat with Totalfilm, Martin Sheen shed some light on his portrayal of Uncle Ben in ‘The Amazing Spider-Man,’ and ascribed some mighty praise to the lead star of the film, Andrew Grafield:
“He’s quite the marvel, a very fine actor. He’s a lovely guy, very disciplined, very focused. “He called me up and said, ‘This is Andrew Garfield’ and I said, ‘Who?’ and he said, ‘Uh, we’re in the movie together…’ and I said, ‘Yeah, what part do you play?’ and he said, ‘Uh, I play your nephew!’ I liked him instantly.”We had a wonderful lunch and laughed and joked and he said, “Just feel free to bring whatever you like” and I said, “absolutely.” The guy who’s directing takes a beating because his last name is Webb! But he’s lovely.”
Questioned about how Garfield was handling the physical side of the role, Sheen said: “He’s very athletic, he’s in great shape. He plays basketball and he works out every day. He’s fit. Very wiry, thin, tall, very physically focused. “He works in a very organic way – he loves accidents, when something happens in a scene that causes him to do something else. I went through a couple of very emotional scenes and he was right there, focused. “And he was the same off camera. He didn’t slack off. No, sir! He was equally emotional off camera. Very impressive. He’s going to be a huge star.”
I’m a big fan of Andrew Garfield myself, he had an immense 2010 with both his performances in ‘The Social Network’ and ‘Never Let Me Go’ earning great critical acclaim. ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ swings back onto the big screen in both 3D and 2D July 3rd 2012. The film stars Garfield, Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, Sheen, Sally Field Campbell Scott, Julianne Nicholson, Irrfan Khan and Denis Leary.
A new stash of images have been released online from the set of Marc Webb’s upcoming ‘The Amazing Spider-Man‘ via The Daily Blam. The images give us a closer a look at Andrew Garfield in his spidey garb.

Sony have finally announced that Marc Webb’s upcoming Spider-Man reboot will be officially titled ‘The Amazing Spider-Man.’ They’ve also been kind enough to liberate this new image of Spidey in full costume, which I really dig!

This image from the set of the upcoming Spider-Man reboot has surfaced online giving us our first clearish look at the full Spider-Man costume in action. From the image it definitely looks like Spidey’s rocking mechanical web shooters on his wrists – much like the kind that were used in the original Spider-Man comics. Also just to point out this suit is more than likely a stunt costume, meaning it’s in all likelihood missing a few details.
