Another Trailer For Peter Weir’s The Way Back – Starring Colin Farrell, Ed Harris & Jim Sturgess
Nov 7th

Yahoo! Movies! have released a new trailer for Peter Weir’s wonderful looking ‘The Way Back’. I’ve been sold on this film ever since it was announced. From the trailer it looks like with five Oscar nominations Peter Weir (Master And Commander, The Truman Show, Witness) may be in the mix once again to bring home that faceless gold man. The cast he has assembled is stellar in Colin Farrell, Ed Harris, Jim Sturgess, Mark Strong and Saoirse Ronan. The Way Back is set for release December 26th.
The Way Back is the fact-based story of the escape of soldiers from a Siberian gulag in 1940. It is based on several sources, most notably the Slavomir Rawicz book The Long Walk: The True Story of a Trek to Freedom. The book is Rawicz’s account of being captured by the Red Army in 1939 and his journey to freedom with other inmates. The group crossed the Siberian arctic, the Gobi desert and the Himalayas, finally settling in Tibet and India.
Debut Trailer For London Boulevard – Starring Colin Farrell, Ray Winstone & Keira Knightley
Oct 29th

The first trailer for London Boulevard, the directional debut of the Academy Award-winning screenwriter William Monohen, has made its way online. I’ve heard great things about the novel in which the film is based on, and from the looks of trailer and cast (Colin Farrell, Ray Winstone) it looks we’re in for treat! Look out for this in UK cinemas 26th November.
From the Screenwriter of ‘The Departed’ William Monahan and Producer Graham King (‘The Departed’, ‘The Young Victoria’, ‘Aviator’, ‘Gangs of New York’) comes ‘LONDON BOULEVARD’, a drama starring Golden Globe winner Colin Farrell and Academy Award nominated actress Keira Knightley in an adaptation of the bestselling book by Ken Bruen. A crime drama set on the streets of London, about a South London criminal who, after release from prison, tries to give up his life as a gangster by becoming a handyman for a reclusive young actress..

J.J. Abrams ‘Super 8′ Set For Release June 10th, 2011
Oct 27th

Paramount Pictures have set a June 10th, 2011 release date for J.J. Abrams’ top secret movie ‘Super 8′. At this point in time not much is known about the film, apparently it revolves around three siblings who discover they’ve captured an alien in a reel of Super 8 film they’ve shot. The film is set to be a tribute to and produced by some fella named Steven Spielberg. Super 8 stars Kyle Chandler, Elle Fanning , Ron Eldard, Noah Emmerich, Joel Courtney, Riley Griffiths, Ryan Lee, Zach Mills, Gabriel Basso and AJ Michalka.
Super 8 is definitely one of my most anticipated movies of 2011. J.J. Abrams’ is the master of teasing people, the teaser trailer for the movie showed just about enough to get people interested, and little enough to keep us guessing – just like he did with Cloverfield. Abrams, was responsible for the hugely successful Star Trek reboot and Mission: Impossible III on the big screen, and Lost (six seasons of tease!) and Alias on TV.
June 10th is also the release date for ‘Fast Five’, the fifth film in the Fast and Furious franchise, which stars Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, and Dwayne Johnson.
Martin Freeman, Jimmy Nesbitt, Michael Fassbender & David Tennant Pursued For ‘The Hobbit’?
Oct 17th

Accompanying the fantastic news that The Hobbit has finally been given a greenlight with Peter Jackson – director of all three ‘Lord of the Rings’ films – helming the two films back-to-back (telling the story of “The Hobbit” in two parts) for a 2012 and 2013 release. Those scoopmeisters over at Deadline have heard through the grapevine some enticing casting news:
‘Martin Freeman will soon be set to play Bilbo Baggins, that Jimmy Nesbitt has been offered a role and that Michael Fassbender is being pursued for another as is David Tennant. Ian McKellan and Andy Serkis are expected to reprise Gandalf and Gollum.’
This is all music to my ears. After so much spluttering starts and stops, the reality of these films finally hitting the big screen feels sweeeeeeeeeeeet! Expect some official casting confirmations in due time.
Fourth Bourne Movie ‘The Bourne Legacy’ Will NOT Feature Jason Bourne/Matt Damon
Oct 10th
Tony Gilroy, the writer and director for the fourth instalment in the Bourne franchise ‘The Bourne Legacy’ has told Hollywood Elsewhere that there will be no Jason Bourne, and therefore no Matt Damon in his new Bourne film. This is a bit of a bummer for me, with my somewhat limited intellect it’s hard to think of a Bourne movie without Jason Bourne (I tried thinking of a Batman movie without Batman, but my brain went into sensory overload).
I still have some hope in Gilroy though, he wrote the previous three Bourne movies along with The Devil’s Advocate and Michael Clayton (which he also directed) – each thoroughly thumbs up worthy movies! He’s got his work cut out for him trying to extend a franchise without its star though. Also to point out while the film shares a title with the book ‘The Bourne Legacy’ by Eric Van Lustbader – the first book in the series after original writer Robert Ludlum’s death – Gilroy says it’s a stand alone script that does not follow the same plot. The film will feature a whole new hero in the same universe. Check out some quotes from the article below.
It’s a completely original screenplay….This is not a reboot or a recast or a prequel. No one’s replacing Matt Damon. There will be a whole new hero, a whole new chapter…this is a stand-alone project.
The easiest way to think of it is an expansion or a reveal…Jason Bourne will not be in this film, but he’s very much alive. What happened in the first three films is the trigger for what happens. I’m building a legend and an environment and a wider conspiracy…the world we’re making enhances and advances and invites Jason Bourne’s return [down the road].
