Awesome Poster For ‘The Hobbit: There And Back Again’

Wes Talbott has put together this stunning poster for ‘The Hobbit: There and Back Again.’ On Monday Peter Jackson took to his hugely popular Facebook account to reveal that production has commenced again in New Zealand on the final two parts of his ‘The Hobbit’ trilogy, ‘The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug’ and ‘The Hobbit: There and Back Again.’ Jackson posted, “Back on set for our last Hobbit pick ups. Our last ever Tolkien pick ups, in fact. It’s going to be an intense few weeks, but we’re looking forward to shooting some powerful scenes with our great cast. Our next blog is coming soon!”
The adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien’s ‘The Hobbit’ was originally made as a two-part film, however Warner Bros, Peter Jackson, producer Fran Walsh and writer-producer Philippa Boyens announced last year that ‘The Hobbit’ films will be a trilogy. The release schedule for the upcoming two films are as follows: ‘The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug’ arrives in cinemas on December 13th, while ’The Hobbit: There and Back Again’ concludes the trilogy on December 17th, 2014. Last month Jackson revealed a 6-minute excerpt of the live event he hosted for ‘The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug,’ providing us with a first official look at the film.

Richard Armitage Talks Thorin & ‘The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug’ & ’The Hobbit: There and Back Again’

In a recent sitdown with IGN, Richard Armitage talked about the final two movies in Peter Jackson’s ‘The Hobbit’ trilogy, ‘The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug’ and ’The Hobbit: There and Back Again,’ and the evolution of his character in the story, Thorin Oakenshield. Asked how Thorin will evolve, Armitage said, “Sadly there isn’t much room for comedy in the rest of the story (laughs), it does get darker. We did try to find moments of lightness and humor for him, which are pretty difficult to find because he’s a pretty serious guy. The closer they get to that dragon [Smaug], the stakes get higher and things become more more threatening for the dwarves and particularly for Thorin as he gets closer to that gold. That’s the thing we established in ‘The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey,’ that his family have an affliction to dragon sickness. As he approaches that it’s going to kind of spiral down into madness.”
Asked about the importance of the relationship between his Thorin Oakenshield and Martin Freeman’s Bilbo Baggins, Richard Armitage said, “I think when Thorin gets to Bag End early in the first movie, he really doesn’t have much time for Bilbo Baggins. He sees him as a liability as he sees him as a halfling, someone who’s not prepared for war. He disregards him. But over the course of that first leg of the journey Bilbo really proves him to be a great use to the quest. That turns Thorin’s mind around and his heart around towards this seemingly insignificant little thing, who saves his life from Azog in that moment. And that’s what that last scene is about, it’s a kind of forgiveness – albeit dressed up in rage. That relationship is interesting, it will evolve through the course of the story.” The actor also confirmed that he has 10 more weeks of filming to go on the ‘The Hobbit’ trilogy. Richard Armitage & James Nesbitt Speak On ‘The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug’

Sitting down with Digital Spy for the UK release of ‘The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey’ on DVD and Blu-ray (April 8th), Richard Armitage and James Nesbitt shed some light on the second part of ‘The Hobbit’ trilogy, ‘The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug.’ First up, Richard Armitage was asked about the future of the relationship between his character Thorin Oakenshield and Martin Freeman’s Bilbo Baggins in the the upcoming film, “I think in ‘The Hobbit: the Desolation of Smaug’ the relationship developes and is enhanced. It becomes a very firm friendship, which, in ‘The Hobbit: There and Back Again,’ that friendship becomes so tight…. and that’s something Tolkien looks at very much in the books. So we’re kind of building to that point in the film.”
James Nesbitt, who plays the disarmingly forthright, funny and occasionally brave dwarf Bobur in the series, also spoke on ‘The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug,’ “I’m excited about ‘The Hobbit: the Desolation of Smaug,’ because now we’re up and running. Not only as a films, but with the Dwarves, we’re into it, we’re on our adventure. Now the journey is really taking off, there’s a lot to come. I can think of so much that is going to happen in ‘The Hobbit: the Desolation of Smaug’ that is very exciting. We introduce a lot of new characters, there’s a lot of danger lurking, we’ve got Giant Spiders, we’ve got the Forest of Enchantment…. there’s a lot of stuff going on. And then also I think we get to Lake-town, and Lake-town is an extraordinary set with extraordinary characters – some that are very close to me, actually.” Head on over to Digital Spy for the full interview.
Peter Jackson Reveals A 6-Minute Behind-The-Scenes Look At ‘The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug’

Peter Jackson has took to his official Facebook page to reveal the following 6-minute excerpt of the live event he hosted last week for ‘The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug,’ providing us with a first look at the film. Jackson added the following about the footage. “Thanks to everyone who tuned into our Live Event last week. I’ve never done anything like that before, and I was pretty nervous. Hope it was ok. If you saw it, it was a pretty accurate picture of what life is like at the moment. Jabez and I sit in that editing room all day, every day, editing the second Hobbit movie, and we actually start on the third next week! A lot of that movie was shot nearly a year ago, so I’m looking forward to seeing it come alive, shot by shot in the cutting room. It’s like assembling one of those complex 2000 piece jigsaw puzzles. For us, this is really the being of 2013, so I look forward to posting a bunch more stuff as we work through the year. I think that an edited version of the Live Event is being made available over at the official Hobbit site, and Warner Bros have kindly let me post a 6 min excerpt here, to give everyone who missed it a sense of what it was like. With ‘The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey’ arriving on Blu-ray Combo Pack, Blu-ray 3D Combo Pack and 2-Disc DVD Special Edition on March 19th in US (the Peter Jackson-helmed film is available on home release from April 8th in the UK), Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has created these stellar infographic for the film, taking a look at some of the characters living in Middle-earth (check it out in full below).
