Production Begins On ‘The Raid 2′ – Collection Of Images Released

I’m stoked for this! PT Merantau Films and XYZ Films have just sent word that ‘The Raid 2′ (Indonesian title, ‘The Raid 2: Berandal’), the sequel to the wildly popular international hit ‘The Raid’ (aka ‘The Raid: Redemption’), has begun production today in Indonesia. The film reunites writer/director Gareth Huw Evans with actor Iko Uwais, who will be reprising his starring role. In addition to Uwais, the international cast includes Tio Pakusadewo, Putra Arifin Scheunamann, Julie Estelle, Alex Abbad and Roy Marten.
Picking up right where the first film ends, ‘The Raid 2′ follows Rama (Uwais) as he goes undercover and infiltrates the ranks of a ruthless Jakarta crime syndicate in order to protect his family and uncover the corruption in his own police force.

Digital Spy has unleashed this UK trailer for Gareth Evans’ insane yet thoroughly awesome action flick ‘The Raid: Redemption.’ Planned to be the first film in a trilogy, ‘The Raid: Redemption’ has been massive hit on the festival circuit – winning the much coveted Midnight Audience Award at TIFF. The film stars Iko Uwais, Doni Alamsyah, Ananda George, Pierre Gruno, Yayan Ruhian, Ray Sahetapy, Tegar Satrya, and Verdi Solaiman, while Linkin Park‘s Mike Shinoda is on score duty. ‘The Raid: Redemption’ is released in cinemas March 23rd in the US and May 18th in the UK.
As a rookie member of an elite special-forces team, Rama (Iko Uwais) is instructed to hang back during a covert mission involving the extraction of a brutal crime lord from a rundown fifteen-story apartment block. But when a spotter blows their cover, boss Tama (Ray Sahetaphy) offers lifelong sanctuary to every killer, rapist and thief in the building in exchange for their heads. Now Rama must stand in for the team’s fallen leader (Joe Taslim) and use every iota of his fighting strength – winding through every floor and every room to complete the mission and escape with his life.
